I was wondering how the rest is keeping up with the second wave?
I was at home for several months, went back to job experience thing for about 2 weeks, it was already a small place and no way to social distance, and 20 more people were supposed to join.
In which i decided to move on and find something else, which is a pity, because i setup a whole pc repair service.

But now the second wave just hit us, since i belong in some risk factors, i am weary to start (again) elsewhere but if i decide to stay at home again, it won't do me much good job wise later on because we most likely get an economic crisis.
So unless we get a total lockdown (which might be possible) i kinda feel like i just have to go while i rather not, but i guess more people will have that they feel they need to work, else they might not have an income, lose their job etc, it's also leading a lot of people towards depression (which also ties in with winter coming).
But there are also, for some reason, denying the whole existence of corona, or are you like Trump and just treat it like a flu?

When you feel like you wasted a whole year.
I still remember the first wave.

[EDIT] Seems The Netherlands is in the top 3 of doing the worst, with Spain and France.

Is corona affecting your life?

Yes, corona is affecting my life, I wish it was over
No, it doesn't really bother me
I don't know

I'm in a risk group myself, and while I don't mind staying at home most of the time, my SO works in a 'crucial' field so I am a little worried in that regard. So I voted yes, as we try to take more precautions than otherwise. But that's difficult sometimes when living in a big city πŸ˜…

While China indeed wasn't as open about it as possible, we shouldn't forget that it is some entirely different matter to be the very first in contact with a new pandemic.
And we are nearing the end of 2020 now, with a lot more knowledge about Covid-19 available, yet we have plenty enough leaders in the Western world too, failing to handle countermeasures. Or downplaying or even denying risks.

So yes, China fucked up. But I do doubt that most nations would have handled it significantly better. And those nations complaining most about China, are the most likely candidates to have reacted and lied even worse than China.
Yeah, I'm looking in your direction, Trump.

"First confirmed case"... Yeah, right. More like "first case we are going to admit to until the day we can no longer hide the truth."

I have family in both the CDC and the Medical Community. Cases have been documented back to November of 2019 in the U.S.

The first wave never really ended here; cases dipped a bit, and lockdown was partially lifted but I never returned to in-office work (I can do a lot of work from home/virtually). As a somewhat at risk group (I have autoimmune issues), I've been extremely cautious since the beginning of this crisis and have taken every precaution necessary but that's only possible because I have family members able to supplement my loss of income. I have also been lucky enough not to have any of my loved ones get sick with it (as far as we know--the asymptomatic numbers are quite high). I just wish more people would take it seriously.

On a more lighthearted note--at least it has helped my introverted tendencies! No longer do I need to come up with excuses for why I absolutely can't make it to the bar tonight =D

I'm in as lockdown-like a mode as one could possibly be, only going out for late-night grocery stops when there's very few people on the street. I stopped going to university early on in February because the signs were pretty clear that shit was about to hit the fan; barely a week later, one of my teachers came down with it, and soon after the university closed down for the semester. I'm staying at home during this semester, too, especially since my uni's way of ensuring people can sit about a meter apart from each other was to remove the tables(!) from all classrooms.

I don't see myself going anywhere, meeting up with people, etc. again until we're living in a post-vaccine world. I'm already the sole caretaker of one immunocompromised parent while another just got diagnosed with cancer last month, and no amount of "it sure was nice to pretend things were normal!" could ever measure up to the amount of guilt I would feel if I were to somehow bring home the COVID-infected straw to break the proverbial camel's back, especially since I'm literally the only person in contact with one of my parents and would therefore be solely responsible.

I feel horrible for people whose livelihoods are being run aground by this whole deal and hope it blows over soon. I really feel like people here are keeping the situation going on indefinitely by taking zero precautions, though. Guess I was too optimistic in my "pfft, people would be too smart and willing to stick together for things to get this bad!" take I used to have about disaster and zombie flicks...

I'm still mostly living my life as somewhat normal, working and going out (though more with close friends, not many big public events). Some plans have been cancelled, there were a few concerts, conferences, and other things that I had wanted to go to that were called off. While I do believe that COVID exists and is more dangerous than most common flu's, I think it's seriousness has been way overplayed by the media and politicians who want more control over our lives.

I respect people who choose to stay home because they or family are at risk, but even my parents and grandparents think the idea of wrecking the economy and quarantining healthy people is ridiculous. The toll of the response to COVID, hunger and starvation (especially in third world and developing countries who often live on the wages from that day), mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, businesses closed, jobs lost, people unable to pay their mortgages / rent, civil liberties and privacy invaded, IMO has been much worse than the virus itself.

I feel like the two substantive options don't really cover the available answers. COVID is affecting me in a number of ways, but I'm so fortunate with respect to the virus' effects on society that it doesn't seem right to select that option... But It's definitely not right to select "it doesn't really bother me." My work has been essentially unaffected. I'm not going out much, so my income has been steady and my costs have gone down, so I'm economically better-off because of it. No one I personally know has gotten sick, so I'm not impacted in that way, either.

But on the other hand, I know people who have had loved ones get sick, and others who have had family members and good friends die from the virus. I haven't been able to do a number of things that I really wanted to do because of the pandemic's effects on society. I haven't been able to visit with people I'd really like to visit. My parents have missed out on what will probably be their LAST opportunity to visit me in my home, because they're right at the age where long trips are starting to become a bad idea. I teach martial arts, and I can't safely do that in a really meaningful way, so I'm relegated to teaching a socially-distanced exercise class based on martial arts to help my students maintain their skills while we wait until it's safe to train for real again (i.e. with regular contact).

I've been insulated from the worst effects. I'm so incredibly fortunate in that regard, at least so far. It feels wrong to group myself with people who are struggling to pay their bills or are battling illness. But I'm definitely bothered by it for all sorts of lesser reasons! So I ended out selecting "I don't know," even though I really DO know.

Corona influences my life indeed, and it does so in many ways (including some unexpected ones). Basically, I've been stuck at home for a decade anyway, I'm socially awkward, anxious and so on. This year I've decided to go back to school - and that was scary as shit, because I was supposed to crawl into overcrowded metro and communicate with actual alive people while studying. Apparently I don't have to, because all the lessons happen in Zoom, and I participate in them sitting in my comfy chair in front of my monitor.

At the same time, rare cases when I have to go out are really stressful: I live with my parents, and while my mom is doing fine, my dad is 65, he's got diabetes and hypertension (both diseases are pretty much out of control), and I'm dead scared to catch the virus and bring it home to him.

Also, my sisters' kids are growing away from my eyes, and that's just sad. While my niece is at least old enough to communicate with me via video calls (she's 6, and we are BFFs), my 1,5-years-old nephew literally doesn't know who I am. It would only take 3 hours on a train to visit him, but I'm currently afraid of trains.

Also, the everyday shit that's happening in my country is so damn disgusting, but the protest has entirely died because of COVID.

Everyone always tries to wash their hands.
Everyone wears masks on a daily basis.
Disinfect everyone's hands with alcohol.
Social distance ((γƒΎ('Θ')γ€€γ€€γ€€('Θ')οΎ‰))

Is there a country that really does these?
The island nations of the Orient are "favorite" because such acts are "paranoid".
The result of these acts.
Influenza infection rate has decreased to one-thousandth of the average year. lolIs it true?

Even if only the island nation resumes economic activity, the economy will not be possible unless the outside of the island is engaged in economic activity.
Perhaps everyone in the world will not start moving immediately.
For the remaining two years and two months, more or less every country will continue to be far from everyday life.

What I'm thinking about lately?
I'm thinking of looking for food that can be cultivated indoors and that is delicious.
Everyone will feel at ease if there is green in the room.
Everyone will be calm when they have food.πŸ₯’πŸ˜‹

I've had a family member die from Covid-19 after being on a ventilator for weeks. Don't listen to people who are trying to brush this off like it's just a flu. Covid-19 is very real. We haven't miraculously turned a corner. Everyone still has be a responsible person, take reasonable precautions, and think of others' wellbeing, even if it inconveniences us. We have to accept that this may not be going away anytime soon. Be safe everyone.

I am in an unusual position in relation to COVID-19. On the one hand, I have lost family members from the virus. On the other hand, I have more solid information than perhaps 95% of the population when it comes to COVID-19. I have a very good idea to what extent the general population has been "kept in the dark" (i.e. kept ignorant). I am also aware of the manure (i.e. misinformation) they are being fed on a daily basis. And then there is the fact that I am constantly encountering human "mushrooms." (You produce mushrooms by feeding them manure and keeping them in the dark.)

Overall, I would say that my faith in humanity remains, but I am a bit dismayed at how many of us have been successfully trained to not think for ourselves. This virus, too, shall pass, but how much damage will we do to ourselves in the meantime?

Well, since march the whole country is in a total mandatory lockdown, poverty is at an all time high (60%), our currency lost more than 2 times its value since then, crime is at an all time high since police is not allowed to patrol the street, and is instead ordered to stay at checkpoints ala Berlin wall, government has taken over the senate and is working on taking over judicial system, hospitals are now taking almost only covid patients, AND to top it off I think we're the record infections per day in the world. Oh and now half the country is literally on fire.

If you meant personally, I work from home so my life is pretty much the same, except for the my-wages-are-now-half-if-valued-in-USD and not being able to see my kids because they live in a different city. So all in all, could be better.

I"m sure there are some superstitious people that avoid it bc of the name / not wanting to piss off lady luck. And others that avoid it bc they feel that ordering a "Corona" during the outbreak would be in bad taste. But I thought most of the bad sales were due to reduced # of pub crawls during pandemic. According to wikipedia: "Among regular Corona drinkers, only 4% said they planned to stop drinking the brand"

I drank it before and during the pandemic and will likely continue drinking it after. I also drink it while playing games which might partially explain why I am no good at multiplayer games lol.

i think also all countries understimate so much about infection in money\credit cards , all medias, scientists, governs say must to put "sanitizing\soap" in supermarkets\shops ok... but also if you sanitizing your hand at enter is nothing if then you put hand in pocket for get money,or get money from others people or give money to other people, can have virus on money\cc ,without to talk about poor countries or where old people is habit sneeze\flu on dirty paper and put it back to their clotch instead of trow it,i see they talk much about other things wash hand at home, social distancing etc. but never tell this about money in my opinion this is big problem because money go from one people to another they can be more infected easy and spread fast too.
Also people put money in clotchs\wallets and go back home, and old people get money from govern\postal\offices then give money infected to joungs, then joungs go home other old people and infect them...
money\cc is most used object in our planet, and is most fast spread virus too.
Governs not tell this because they scared economy go down more (economy crisis for pandemic already have, then if tell this too + problem too)

i think so,is important that when\if we handle money\cc\phone from other people,is important very to be careful to not put hand in face mouth\nose\eyes,and wash with soap when we can after touch it ;(

Also another thing in my opinion governs wrong is about to say "ooohh not woorry only stay far 1 meter from people is enough" , this is so fucking lie\liar , because you can see\do by yourself , you put a piece of absorbent paper in wall then you sneeze , and you will see that sneeze can reach more far than 1 meter,so NO it's NOT secure to stay only 1 meter far,is more dangerous and can make you die if who infect sneeze or cough.

And Sneeze or cough is fast happen, and very hard for childrens or old people to prevent\stop , so because we can't know if who near us is able to prevent\stop it and because is very common humans can do it,it's very wrong to say "You all go near 1 meter each other in this way not get virus" is a fucking lie and still make many people die because people that don't have enough info believe it then they get infect and in some cases die too so...

Also govern forget to say that enjoy puy sq**ng li***ng at beach with 99999 sexyladies is not much safe.

Because I do not have to sit all day at class, I even found a good full-time job where I should stay even after I finish my degree. So yeah, 2020 seems like a hood year for me, in sg words - I had two nice extra giveaways, one after new job and second when I was promoted and got pay raise.. maybe I shall do something nice even on cake day to start next year.

This is the coolest thing ever, I was able to close a bank account from home and reassign all automatic debit charges to a new credit card. Before, that would have meant going to each of the 7 businesses and asking (more like begging) them to do what they did with 1 mail each.

I was even able to get divorced! This is truly the best time to be alive.
