Actually, the 2012 winter sale was almost as shitty as this one, but yeah... big disappointment.

A better looking version for half the price sounds quite nice.

I bought some games, I'm happy. No event sucks, but there some games out there to be played anyway.

I'm a little disappointed because 1. I bid so much on Shattered Planet because it was I think 35% off during the Autumn sale, now it's 50% off. 2. I didn't try harder to get Sproggiwood or Dungeonmans because they were at only around 33% off, bidding-wise, but for the sale they're only 20% off anyway.

This is the first sale where I actually have some funds... and the first few things on my wishlist have pretty bad discounts. I'd spend almost half my stash on the first four things alone. So I have to exercise patience and self control and hope they go on sale for the daily or flash sales. Waaaahhh I'm a whiny baby.

I waited all year for this sale for 1 DLC. And the DLC winter price on sale is more expensive then the entire game+6DLC on another site. :(

I guess the "big event" was the stupid auction.
At least I made some wallet credit out of it. Let's see if I find something interesting to spend it.

No, because i stink at predicting how the cards of these events will go. I either sell too early or too late after their peak value. So this time i was prepared with about 65 sets ready to be crafted. I was certain i was going to make a killing. At least $15 just selling the event cards. Of course valve throws a curveball and introduces the gems. I thought that after the exploit, their value wouldn't be so high. So i sold early, prior to that, i made boosters and wasted about 3000 gems. Then the auction actually starts and the price just skyrockets. I start kicking myself, even more after giving away around $10-$15 worth of gems (Backgrounds & emotes) 2 months prior to this event.

So I hold on to my holiday cards in hopes they increase in value once the sale starts, maybe they do teams again or give items for games when you craft holiday badges... NOPE. Cards immediately lose value. I just can't win at these events! I was planning on buying a few games with the $ from selling cards. But it seems I'll only be making about $9 from this whole thing. At least it will be good for 1 decent game.

I thought I did bad but I guess I was lucky. I turned backgrounds and emotes I did not want and could not sell for $0.03 into gems. Spending no cash I won 3 $20 games and 1 $5 game all from my wish list, gained 2000 steam exp (20 new badges or leveled some badges), made 2 boosters, still have 8 pages of cards and all the backgrounds/emotes I like, some gems left (prob. get another booster) and made $3 profit. So I guess for not spending money I did OK.

The one thing I was hoping would hit 75% off during the sale due to its age and seemingly having been abandoned by the devs...doesn't even have a percentage off. So...yeah.

What game would that be?

Legions of Ashworld, the lead and sole dev up and walked away after it hit around the three month old mark. It had a 50% off flash sale once, and that's been it. :D

I'm very tempted by MGS:R for $6, but its not a Flash Sale, so I'm better off waiting a day or two.

It won't go any lower, one game is on front page means all games from that series gets on sale.

Also I bought it for 7,5$ last week -_-

There's always a chance of a Flash Sale, but I doubt it would be any more than 80% anyways. But I have 48 hours to ponder it. :)

dafuq really 6$ ? ... in the european €-tier#1 (most expensive) store its plain 4€

through conversion: tops 5$

It's a daily deal so you still have 45h do decide

If it says that the deal will end in 48 hours it will not go lower even in a flash sale. If ti says it will end on january 2 it will probably go lower.

No trading, no item rewards, no crafting, no achievements, no 75% sales, in short, FU GabeN :|

I honestly thought Auction was a rip-off but I sniped 2 games on it for 80% off and it looks like this was better than supposed main event by far :((

I'm very disappointed by the lack of a competition or holiday items. So far most of my game list is on sale but nothing which makes me jump. (nothing above 60%)

On the plus side, I was very happy with the auction, getting two games for no real world cost from my wish list. Their gem cost was about the same as a booster for the game. I also really like how well everything is selling on the market, things which I had listed for months are now selling for more than I originally listed them for.

Probably, but as usual they also punish the guys who bought and traded within their regions and never once tried ripping off Valve or the various publishers and developers. Note I don't fall into that group, but tons of my friends do. :(

Permalink

Uh, you can still buy and trade within your own region.

Till now, I'm not really enjoying the sale. Nothing special, nothing on my wishlist I can't get much cheaper on Key Sites. Too bad. And those cards, nah, better buy them on the Community Market then spending lots of money in the Store.

But I got a question and I hope somebody can answer it. (I'm german, so you can answer in german too :D)

I really want Endless Legend. Saw it yesterday, watched Gameplays all the night. I am fascinated. Some hours ago it was -50% but I didn't buy because I thought it may be cheaper in sale. Was wrong, now only -33% -.- and this offer lasts until 2nd Jan. My question, is there a chance it is getting cheaper again, maybe in daily special sale, or is this discount fix until end?
If this is the final discount for Winter Sale, I'm going to buy a key somewhere else much cheaper.

Permalink

Yes there is a chance.

Yes, there's a chance for that, but I didn't risk it and bought the Amplitude Endless pack before the sale started. Just wait, it might hit the 50% again.

Permalink

Okay, thanks mates :D I think I will just buy me a key, cause a can't and won't wait until the game MAYBE gets -50% again. And I don't think there will be a bigger discount.

If it was on sale for a bigger discount in the previous authumn sale the chances are it will have the same discount again at some point.
