The Eiyuden Chronicle one doesn't seem to work or doesn't have information. Is that one correct? Thanks.

People joking about it, but it let me grab 5 steam games from IGN+, in addition to the 8 bangers from Humble Choice, this has definitely been my favorite month in a long time.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, right when Choice was released, first thing I did was get the IGN key, activate it, and grab the steam games. Was in a couple discords that mentioned it ahead of time, and all the games you could get with it if you were quick.

So the game is there but the key doesn't work? Odd ... someone in Japan (below) seems to be having a similar issue with Elyuden Chronical.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah it works now, I thought they ran out of key the momeent it was on
Comment has been collapsed.
Another disaster for Humble. No point to the IGN plus subscription now. They just wanted to get rid of the keys they've had for months on IGN.
Mission successful I guess.
At least the month had good games.
Comment has been collapsed.
YES! All 8 games are in my wish list! Best bundle for me so far! :D

Same here in China, I contacted support and they said:
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you're experiencing with the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes key. Due to regional distribution laws in your country, only Epic keys are available for your region.
Maybe it's the same for Japan.

Medion, you are right. Ignore that "The Day Before" 1k+ hour loving freak >.<
HB raised monthly bundle cost while only adding IGN+ sub. It will basically only benefit the early bird subscriber (for like the 1st hour lol). After that, the IGN sub is useless if no games are restocked in exchange for HB charging you a higher fixed price.
Huge stonk for HB!!!!, low stonk for us (majority) :(

I cook professionally and we have a saying for when people try to hide the fact their dish sucks by putting pretty things on it:
"you can cover a turd in gold leaf all you want, it still won't taste like chocolate"
I don't know why I just thought of that :P
Comment has been collapsed.
There's no benefit to leaving keys unused. In fact, it's highly recommended you reveal and store all keys you don't intend on using immediately after purchase, since often Humble will run out of keys and you'll not be able to get them at all if you wait to long.
Comment has been collapsed.
12 usd is ~ 11 euro, but they raised the price to 13€.
For the americans it's unchanged of course.
This hardly feels fair, especially in the current political climate, where "the message" is that america pays the comfy living of europe. IGN is still a spineless corp
Comment has been collapsed.
Not to mention all the IGN+ keys are already out of stock, in true Humble tradition.
So they "gave" us a membership for a month but didn't get more keys for the freebies, which is really all that's interesting to anyone in that whole membership. Should be called "Out of Stock+"

Thaumaturge looks great, but apparently a lot of other people think so too as I'm not seeing it in giveaways or group buys!
Nothing else of interest for me; I previously thought Eiyuden Chronicle would be my sort of game but I tried it on Gamepass and did not like it at all.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, they still haven't notified me about the price change but already set the new price for my next billing, which is an illegal business practice in EU/DE. Guess I'm cancelling for good.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, I'm sure. I'm paying enough money for my email service to care about what is in my inbox and spam folders.
Comment has been collapsed.
They sure informed you of the price change.
Im from ES and received the mail one or two months ago.
Comment has been collapsed.
Ah yes, you got one, therefore everyone got one. That's simple logic! There is no possibility of even one customer not getting the email, cuz you got it!
Comment has been collapsed.
It's not like they are writing the emails by hand.
I have different mails and accounts created at different times and every single one got the email, the one that had subscription active and the ones that doesn't.
Really hard to belive someone didn't receive the mail unless you manually deactivated the email notifications.
Comment has been collapsed.
A customer turning off notifications - which I didn't - doesn't mean they can just do whatever they want without notifying the customer. They have to notify the customer by EU law. Hence why other providers send multiple emails or letters and visibly announce changes like these in the account overview. One email - potentially not reaching the customer due to unforseen circumstances - just isn't enough, especially if they're autocharing the new price.
Also I know they've been using bird.com for sending their mails and all these mass mail providers have issues of their own. An example we've been dealing with in our application is the provider accepting emails with a size of more than 25MB, marking them as successfully sent, without actually sending them due to them exceeding the size limit.
In the end Humble Bundle is sending millions of mails and each mail is a transaction between 2 mailservers, and a lot can happen during this transaction. Obviously there are a lot of measures to prevent data loss, but it can't be ruled out 100%. Let's say there's a DNS resolution issue (ever heard of a CloudFlare outage?) and the service receives an NXDOMAIN, they will assume the domain used in that email address does not exist and not even retry sending the mail at a later time. If the mail isn't flagged as such or if Humble Bundle doesn't care to resend these mails, it'll never reach the customer. As I'm using a custom domain with CloudFlare and a GMail mailserver, this could be a real scenario. But we can go further down the chain. Google offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee for its Workspace products, that's up to 43 minutes and 12 seconds of downtime per month. While outages are rare, they do occur.
Now we can also factor in human errors. Humans make mistakes all the time, sending mails to customers who shouldn't receive these mails, and having to send follow up/correction mails. You don't know the internal processes for mails like these at Humble Bundle, thus you can't expect them to never make mistakes. Yes, it's easy to assume they simply select "all customers" before sending those emails, but EU customers should receive EU prices, while US customer should receive US prices etc., so "all customers" might not be the option here. Or maybe "all customers" is an option and the prices are loaded dynamically based on where the customer is located or which currency they're using, which is more logical. What about customers like me who used to be in a limbo state, previously receiving USD coupons that applied the USD value with EUR currency? What if the mail generation doesn't take this edge case into account and simply... fails?
No, it's not hard to believe that some didn't receive the email.

I think you are way more invested in this situation than me. So i will use ChatGPT to make a summary of your bible.
Here’s a concise summary of the paragraph:
The author argues that companies like Humble Bundle are legally required under EU law to notify customers about important changes, such as price increases, and that a single email—especially one that might not reach the customer due to technical issues—is insufficient. They highlight how mass email systems can fail due to factors like provider limitations, DNS errors, outages, and human error. Given these variables, it's entirely plausible that some customers, including themselves, never received the notification email.
This said.
Under GDPR if you tell them to delete your mail from the mailing, they will not contact you again as per your request.
I don't know what are you mixing here between EU and USD prices, i have always paid my transactions with EUR and my active subscriptions are paid per year, so only pay once a year through gift links, this way there is no way for them to auto-charge anything even if i forget to cancel.
Comment has been collapsed.
So in short ChatGPT agrees with me. Also I already said I haven't disabled notifications from Humble Bundle.
The EUR/USD thing was a small percentage of old Humble Bundle Monthly customers transitioning to Choice, where you would get like a 6 USD off coupon marketed as 50% off the normal 12 USD price, but it would be applied as a 6 EUR discount on your 10 EUR price, resulting in a final price of 4 EUR. You could easily identify this because you'd pay in EUR but all your mails where containing USD, while all other EUR customers would receive EUR mails.

They have to notify the customer by EU law
Yes, and I am pretty sure that if you are in their mailing list, and the system has sent out the email to all, then you most likely count as "informed" about it. How do you expect them to possibly check ALL recepients if they received it? Honestly, I am not even defending humble here, I cant stand them since IGN took over... But just from pure logic. They are not sending out hand written letters to all afterall. I am pretty sure I have run into something similar dealing with government agencies. If you have email as contact, then it counts as delivered if they have sent it out... and while that is not fair to you as end user who has to depend on unsafe and unreliable system, it is even more redicilous to ask for the sender to assure that.
Of course, an announcement on the website would have been way more effective and covered legal bases, but we can agree humble doesnt really care about the legal considerations of europe... But the whole blaming humble for undelivered mail is more or less simply redicilous.
And btw - I thought I did not receive anything as well. Because I was looking for email which has something about price change in the title. The one which informs about the change actually is "€99 for One Year of Choice!". So just do a double check if you really did not receive this. Again - completely redicilous to use yearly offer email to announce price hike for regular sub..... but I am pretty sure IGN and humble doies not have a single competent employee left in the company (hence the outright stupid decisions that completely go against EU law, completely illogical email content and unclear disclaimers)

I think you're missing the point. I'm blaming HB for their shady business tactics and as a result am taking personal measures (i.e. unsubscribing for good). That's all I was trying to say in the first place. This got completely blown out of proportion by people thinking they know everything. Since they turned the blame on me, I just wanted to prove them wrong. That's all :)
I did not receive said email.
Comment has been collapsed.
I guess they don't care because if you got autocharged and complained, they'd simply refund you. And nobody would consider legal actions for the 3 bucks they even got refunded.
Comment has been collapsed.
Nobody is going to make a class action lawsuit for this but there are customer protection entities in Europe who take action against things like that. Ask Valve and Google. It's only a matter of time for IGN.
Between that and all the out of stock keys, the ninja change in TOS that tell you that you can't get replacement for keys that are over 3 year old etc, they are really looking for it.
Comment has been collapsed.
did you also check for "€99 for One Year of Choice!" email from them? they have the announcment inside the offer for yearly sub. Which is wierd... but its there.
Comment has been collapsed.
Same here. You'd think "Humble Choice" or "important updates" would qualify for said mail, but haven't received any info about new Humble Choices, coupons etc. in almost a year. The last mail not regarding a specific purchase was "Saying Farewell to Refer a Friend" on June 13 2024.

Pretty cool bundle. Good mix of different types of games. If they would throw in some racing game in there as well, this would be a brilliant bundle IMO (for variety, I for one dont care fo anime, side scrollers or platformers). I have one wishlisted and two would be interesting to try out. But neither game has top priotiry for me. Already have bunch of backlog I am trying to get through and there is a risk these would sit in my library for some time.
I will probably wait a bit for a coupon and figure out if I get it though the month.
Comment has been collapsed.
Correct, If there’s a description mentioning 1st / 2nd / 3rd / 4th drops along with dates and times, that means they’ll restock since they have a lot of keys. However, if the giveaway page doesn’t include that kind of drop description, they won’t restock those games since it’s first come, first serve.

Not bad for €6.74. A good final for the $8 promotion. Now it's time to cancel my sub. Unless they have some good coupons I'll be more selective with my future purchases. I won't be paying almost double of what I've been paying so far, just to increase my collection.
Comment has been collapsed.
Very true. Often collecting games is a game in itself.
Comment has been collapsed.
Same. I highly suspect the unusual quality of the last bundle before the price change and the first bundle with the price hike are not random.
They're trying to lure us into paying for a yearly sub. See all these nice bundles? You can get them for way less than 13 bucks per month!
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not buying an yearly sub anymore. Lesson learned. I prefer to decide on a monthly basis. I don't expect to buy them as often as I did with the recent price increases for EU and everyone else, but in the end, more quality is better than quantity. As a collector I don't really like that but I also don't enjoy paying more for the same crap.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't expect to buy them as often as I did with the recent price increases for EU
Same. They had me last month because I had 3 wishlisted games in the bundle but at the new Europeran price, that'll be the bare minimum for me to consider buying the monthly again. At this price, it's not worth it anymore for games you're not sure you want to play.
Especially not when you add the whole "out of stock, you're screwed" BS.
Comment has been collapsed.
The Promo was "€6.49 for the first 6 months", wasn't it? How come it's €6.74 this month?
Comment has been collapsed.
Hope someone sues them.
Also the fact that they claimed higher prices becuase of including IGN Plus... And then almost everything that comes with IGN Plus it's only avaliable in the USA.
