I had a bunch of games in inventory that I never revealed. The following games appear to be out of keys at lootboy (got "fehler" message when trying to reveal the code) so if you had these kept unrevealed in yours, they might be gone now.

I thought that the keys are assigned when issuing a card and returned to the distribution after the shredder of an undisclosed card. Your comment reveals the point that a key can be assigned when disclosing a card from a pool of free keys. Useful knowledge, thank you.

The same kind of things can happen with any website that can give you a key, if you wait too long to reveal it or to activate it. I'm even sure I already saw the same kind of story in the Steamgifts forums but with another site involved (maybe with indiegala or humble bundle).
Always reveal the key as soon as possible (or at least do not wait too long to do it) and then keep it somewhere safe - like in a text file you can use to keep a list of unused keys. And if the list is long or valuable, make backups elsewhere.
And it is even better to activate a key (or give it) as soon as possible to avoid other similar problems (example: when there is a problem between a developer and a seller, the developer may want to disable all unused keys to solve the problem).

I have never seen any other site run out of keys that you paid for.
Humble Bundle did run out of keys or remove keys after certain period (still activayable if you copied them ) but this was only for games you could get for free.
Lootboy packs you pay $ to get or buy them with premium diamonds.
Granted,ndiegala and other sites like gogo etc have had problems with keys being revoked later on by devs, but at least their keys don't vanish into tin air, and indiegala even offers replacement within certain amount of days.

Nearly each store, Fanatical and Humble Bundle too to name good ones, don't give you a key, after a period of time, for a revealed buy.
Because they send, normaly, all unused keys back to the publisher/developer after a fixed ammount of time.
Sure, shops like HB and fanatical have more keys and are able to replace them, in the case of a problem, easier as a little company like Lootboy or shady companies.
Lootboy is a GmbH, that means they must spend at least 50k € to start that company and have around 50 people working there. They are not so tiny as it looks but tiny if you compare it to HB.
Its very common to reveal they keys after a buy to avoid that situation.

I did not know that. I keep all my keys unrevealed as I can't reedem them atm and also do a lot of trading so I need to keep track of what is unused and not. And a lot of traders ask for Humble giftlink.
I have not heard of any problems with Fanatical before and them not having keys after a while. I thought all were assigned. I guess I better go check all my Fanatical purchases now.
Do you know if this has happened at Humble only with keys bought from the store for limited/removed games or with HB bundle keys too? I have a lot of unrevealed keys there too.
I guess I better reveal / turn everything into giftlinks there too then and make my own lists. But I always do double takes on keys in my list, always though lt it was safer keeping them unrevealed on bundle sites.

At HB not only revoked game keys disappear if not revealed.
And gift links get sometimes stolen at HB.
It gave a lot of threads/comments, to that fact, in the past.
Since the days i read a lot about such stuff i reveal each key direct and save me the keys offline (+ made a data save when new keys are added or some of them are given out)

Lucky this group all agree if the key cannot work anymore or duplicate key, allow sender to cancel, if not, I dunno how to clear all my key anymore.

I have 2 games in my Gamersgate account with no keys.
HumbleBundle couldn't provide me a key for a game removed from Steam (I bought a copy in HumbleStore when it was still available), so I requested refund. Several people reported the same issue with Humblebundle purchases of removed games.

There are no PMs, but there is a simple workaround.
"If you want to get "This Great/Crappy Game", post below. You will get a message notification, when I post the key in comments on one of your old GAs. First come, first served."

Do you really think, that bots would be scanning all the past giveaways for comments? Especially, if just a small group of people was using this method? Doesn't seem likely to me, and anyway you could still all the normal encryption methods.
More likely, that some players may look into recipients old GAs, after the request has been posted, but making "keys will be sent within a week" should make this too troublesome.

It seems Lootboy has gotten a lot better when it comes to duplicated keys, but if you still have doubts about a key, you can use the group below for those giveaways :)
Unfortunately it happens far too often that Lootboy is handing out duplicate keys, so a lot of people feel uncomfortable with creating public giveaways with the games from Lootboy. So I just created a little group with some rules to make it less risky for the generous givers.I hope this helps :)
