I just looked at the quakecon pack which is valued at near 500 dollars, more points than its possible to have. How would something like this work out?

Probably setting an upper limit on how much a pack like that generates and how much it costs point wise.

During Quakecon 2011, Quakecon Pack 2011 can be bought for $69.99 USD. There have been incredible, generous gifters that gifted games that cost much more until now. But as jbaskinrocksocks said with its actual price of $494.66 equaling 495 points we can't enter if such a giveaway is ever made.

That would be cruel come to think of it, seeing a giveaway worth $494.66 saying:

The pack isn't put on the site for the value of all the games in it, the pack is put on the site for the value of the pack. For example, the Valve complete pack holds hundreds of dollars worth of games, but only sells for $100 on Steam.

Ergo, Valve Complete Pack would generate 10 points and be put up for 100 points entry.

every pack has it's initial cost and sale cost.
valve pack costs 100, but it was 50 while summer camp.
and this pack's initial cost is 495, while it's at 70 during the sale.
but the sale price is not considered on steamgifts, so that's the problem.
anyway, there is noone getting 500 points nearest week, even if the cap is increased to 500. so the only way (if this pack even appears on the site) is to put it at a lower point price. if that would be 300, i won't be able to participate. too sad:( but i don't believe, anyone will gift that.
