IG recently implemented a password system for accessing/sending bundle gift links, for someone like me it's going to be very inconvenient, because I do not trade whole bundles, I buy extras when there are good games in them, to slowly drop keys or give to friends at my leisure...... the newest bundle purchases have passwords on the gift links....

Well I don't know how long this has been broken(?? Hopefully broken, surely broken??) But I just tried to access an old gift from an old bundle, and it asked me for a nonexistant password. None of the old bundle gifts have passwords, so you are effectively unable to access any of your old IG gift purchases.

Could someone be willing to check this to confirm it's not just my profile?

Thanks

U P D A T E ::
NoScript was blocking a domain called onesignal, from within my IG library, once I allowed this domain access, this is now the behavior:
When I try to access a gift link without a password, it prompts me to enter a password that doesn't exist. (this must trigger the system to automatically generate a password)
Upon refreshing my entire library, which takes forever because IG, there sits a password for that bundle...

So this is just tedium heaped upon tedium, I will have to go through and manually generate passwords for every single gift bundle, and then I will have to refresh my entire library, copy that password, then put the password in the bundle page to access the keys, over and over and over again.

This is the height of absurdity, why couldn't they have just given profiles a universal password to all their gift links, and generate a unique password only if you want to give the link to someone else??

Had the same problem yesterday, but directly after trying to access one that now got a password requirement, I got a new mail from IG for the same bundle and that got a password.

are you saying they emailed you a password for an old bundle? I haven't had a problem with the new bundles yet (they come with passwords when you buy them)

Yes when I use a link of one of my old bundles that had no password I now get asked to input my password like you said. And that would be impossible, but shortly after I get an automated mail (pretty much the same I got back then...just now with a password).

Will make a mess in my mailbox if I check every past purchase, but I still will have access to all my gifts.

No such luck here at all. I get no emails, have no passwords, and I have a ton of old IG gifts with unused keys, this is a very unprofessional move in a very long line of very unprofessional moves, if I ever get access to my library back, I'm going to have to find the time to just move all of my unused keys away from their hands, ... I suddenly got a very time-consuming data entry job where I pay them, instead of them paying me, apparently... heh.

Mail didn't got into spam? Checked this possibility? Checked every e-mail account you have?
If all those don't show an e-mail, then try to contact the support with this problem. Else good luck!

So you are also getting an automated email with a password every time you try to access a really old bundle gift you bought?

Still not getting an email for the passwords, but once I allowed that domain onesignal.com in my NoScript, it did start automatically assigning a password to each gift link i touched in my profile (updated the original post) incredibly tedious and burdensome... sheesh

Yep pretty annoying, but glad you now get these mails too. :)

I was saying I don't get emails, (maybe because that's because I didn't allow notifications in firefox when prompted?) it just assigns a gift bundle a password when I go to it, so I have to refresh my library in order to see the bundle's password... clicking on the gift bundle makes the system automatically assign a password, no emails for me though, not sure if it's because of the new browser notifications functionality or not, but IG emails me receipts and promotions all the time, just no gift bundle passwords.

This new scheme is an incredible burden for people who buy extra gifts for casual drops etc, I go through looking for which gift bundle has an unused key, even if they get it working for me it's going to be murder, so my only choice will be to move them offsite so i only have to enter a billion passwords one time each....

Sheesh

Your un-used keys should be shown when you're trying to giveaway games there. However, they aren't linked, but you could then check ITAD to know from which bundles these games are.

Doesn't help if you generate(d) gift links instead of keys. These are now inaccessible and I have a long discussion with IG support trying to find a solution. They asked me to send them all my gift links to reset the email address associated with them, but they're not set up to receive encrypted emails. A neverending story...

So send them unencrypted gift links?

They agreed that I send them the links in a password-protected zip file and send the password via SMS. Now I'm waiting for an update.

Please let me know how it goes. I have hundreds of gift links from them and don't know which bundles any of them are from. Tracking one down, entering my email to be sent the key, retrieving the key, and re-recording it for every single one would be a nightmare.

Sounds really bad. I recently thought to use IndieGala gift links for trading, but then I'll stay with keys from there.

When I tried to access a gift link, it asked me for a password. Opening a new tab in bundles library, revealed the password there. Hope that helps!

Oops, missed the part that you explained that!

So far, they have only sent me one single password and each gift bundle (so far) requires unique passwords.

I just opened links to two separate gift URLs obtained from happy hour group buys. In both cases I received an e-mail immediately with the password for each respective bundle. After entering each password I was able to view the bundle contents just fine.

One of the long-standing issues with IG bundle URLs has been that they couldn't be claimed by or linked to specific accounts, so anyone with the URL could view the games+keys. This password system isn't optimal but at least it provides some measure of security (as long as those password e-mails don't get lost in the shuffle).

What IG really needs to do is allow people to claim bundle gifts and tie them to their main accounts, although it's not clear to me if I need to enter a password each time I view a gift bundle or just the first time after this new password system began.

Each time you view a gift bundle, you need to enter the password again. I extracted keys from 5 or 10 bundles yesterday -- ultimately didn't inconvenience me after I added email checks to the workflow.

They seem to have significantly improved it, that when logged-in gift-bundles that were bought with that account and those sent to the same email don't ask for the password anymore.

Hey thanks for that! I get most IG bundles from group buys but am very slack on adding them. I didn't even know they've added passwords until today :-P Anyway when I first tried my older bundles I was concerned when they too required passwords. Reading the first post and checking my email I realised I did get passwords for old bundles.

But still both new bundles and old bundles are going to be very annoying with passwords required! Then I read your post. So I created an account and added a password to the account. (I have an IndieGala account actually more than one, but I don't get the bundles sent to those accounts.) And yeah now both new and old bundles work without needing passwords. BTW if it's an old bundle and you try it logged in, you won't receive the password either. If you want all passwords, I suggest you logged out or use a different browser or use private mode or whatever and open all old links.

The inability to easily copy all keys in IndieGala is still annoying but I'm somewhat suspecting they're never going to change that.

Although unfortunately I found that there is a problem. I think the email matching is case sensitive. So if your emails were sent to EmailMe@Email.com and you register for emailme@email.com, these will still need passwords. Emails sent to emailme@email.com will work without password. You cannot register for EmailMe@Email.com if you have emailme@email.com since it will say there is already an account. I'm not sure whether you can register for EmailMe@Email.com at the beginning although if you have gifts sent to both you will always have problems for one.

lol, it took me 7 mails and 3 weeks to get that fixed for game-gift-links. Write them, maybe they are faster this time.

Single game-gift links seem screwed now. Bundle-gift-links work reasonably by now, but I'm locked out of all single game-gift links.
Anyone else checked on prior created game-gift links?

Am arguing with support for days already, completely incompetent and flat out ignoring the problem.

Gift links in general do not work, you need to send gifts directly through their web site and pray you'll remember which ones were sent, since they are not marking them until they are redeemed, in which moment the gift link becomes inaccessible for everyone but the one who redeemed it.

the links were accessible through the url, at least to enter mail first, and then after confirming for the key

now those old links became completely inaccessible for me

Same here. I get this message:

This gift does not have an associated email address. To see the content of this page, the creator of the gift must re-submit the email. For further informations please contact our customer support

I contacted IG support, but am not getting any reasonable solution so far. They actually requested me to send all my gift links (about 300) to them in email to reset the associated address, but when I asked for the PGP public key (to send the links via an encrypted email) they basically stopped responding.

Some of the bundles I bought directly, but most I got via group buys. I don't keep track of the bundle gift link. What I do is activate the games I want and turn all the rest to individual gift links, which I then copy to my key file. I checked a random sampling of these links and they all display the same error.

O M freaking G

The problem was that our sistem is sensitive to lowercase and capital letters. Now we fixed this problem so you should have access to this gift link.

Hard to believe that and it took 3 weeks. But at least I was finally able to access mine now.

Unfortunately that fix won't help some others with different issues here.

Anyone has any good idea how I can "convert" my 100s of old giftlinks to keys without spending hours?

I recently tried to create a few gift links but each time I entered an e-mail and pressed 'submit' the tiny window gave me an error and said to retry in a few minutes.

But I was wondering, if I enter someone's e-mail to send the gift does the bundle page still show me the URL for that gift or is it hidden from the sender? Ideally I could still copy/paste the gift link to send directly to someone via SG.
