You said it yourself: you don't know any better so you don't know what you are missing. For me 30 fps is a slideshow. :P
It's like people who purchased a 120hz playing on 120 fps and go back to a 60hz screen playing on 60 fps. Once you get used to it it will be obvious.
By the way, an high FPS doesn't give you motion sickness. You probably have a 60fps screen so even if your game runs at 80 fps: your screen cant output more than 60 fps. Vsync just solves screentearing and causes some mouse lag (not always though). I think you are talking about Field of View, too low = headache for me. :p

I would call it... bullshit. An high framerate doesn't cause it (your eyes irl have a higher framerate.. and once your screen goes past your personal max, you won't notice it anyway). A low FOV or head/weaponbobbing in fps games on the other hand might cause it.
Google it.

I keep it always Off. Tearing is not a big deal anyway and i have to get the maximum fps possible.

I think it works on GeForce 8xxx series and higher - I can enable it on a 9600GT, and a GTX460.
If I remember correctly, the adaptive V-sync works based on your current refresh rate, which can be anything your monitor supports (60, 75, 100, 120, 144Hz should all work, along with pretty much anything in-between)

Same reason here too.
Also i don't see any difference on higher frame rates.
Comment has been collapsed.
Probably because you have a 60Hz monitor.
There's no difference between 60fps and 12000fps if your monitor can handle only 60 a second anyway.

That's absurd. Why would monitors go higher than 24fps if that was the case? In a worst case scenario the human brain can perceive around 72fps, but can perceive as high as 300fps under ideal conditions. Humans perceive "smoothness" without motion blur at around 50-60 fps, but more is obviously better.
I have no idea where you are getting 24fps from as that is incredibly jerky. I can't even stand to play a game at anything less than 45fps, and even that is annoying after a while.

Just because your eyes don't, doesn't mean it is like that for everybody. I can tell when I sit at a 60hz pos monitor within seconds of playing a game.
A human eye can see about 1000fps, but at most interpret 150fps (this is an average mind you, so people like you bring that down). Now I should state here, that obviously we don't have fps, but when you consider how fast nerves fire and that every message is essentially a picture, you arrive at 1000fps.
Commonly people making statements such as you are, are confused about which question they are trying to answer.

24 fps is the point when humans can distinguish pictures from videos.

Where the bloody hell did you pull this load of crap numerical value from? This is why I am able to so easily refute it each time someone like yourself claims "The human eye can only perceive ___fps." So far I have seen people claim 24fps, 30fps, and 60fps as values people can register. Despite this being completely false and numerous studies (military included) which refute this by a vast amount, the fact that each persons claim changes the value renders your claims as de facto manure (to put it as nicely as possible).
80fps? http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=895707
60fps?
25fps? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20120316222042AAzLLqS
Seriously, did you just look at the value of NTSC-Film and decide "This is the rate humans see at?" Is that what went through your head? I wonder if that guy decided 25fps was what people saw since that's the PAL refresh rate for similar content...

Ditto. Even with my aging rig, I get 1080p and 60fps, so I want the tearing to go away.
Comment has been collapsed.
depends on the fps.
if I got enough fps i keep it on.
looks better.

Un, I don't know what it does, but I figure everything "on" and "max settings" has to be good, right?
Comment has been collapsed.
I wasn't joking. All I ever see if VSync -- on or off. Could never be bothered to look it up. I just assumed you turn it off if your computer can't run the game properly on the higher settings.

Interesting. So if I had a mid-tier GPU, I won't have the same problem as bobofatt? I should pay more attention to this stuff.
Comment has been collapsed.
It depends what you mean by a mid-tier GPU. If you mean something like HD 7850, then probably not, as it wouldn't go over 60 FPS for most modern games (maxed out at 1080p). The number of FPS when tearing starts also depends on your monitor's / TV's refresh rate. If you have a standard monitor (typically 60 Hz refresh rate, then you will start to see tearing when FPS goes over 60).

Uh, on second thought, maybe my 6850 is considered low end. Low end of online comparisons of GPUs seems to be the 6870 the last time I checked. Sounds like I will never experience tearing.
Comment has been collapsed.
That is towards the lower end, nowdays, yes. If I'm not wrong, also depending on the manufacturer, the HD 6850 is only a tiny bit faster than the HD 7770, which is considered an entry level gaming card. The 7850/7870 would be somewhere in the middle and then come the beastly 7950/7970.

Always On, the tearing gives me a headache when i turn it off
Comment has been collapsed.
I usually turn it on, except when a game is already pushing my PC to its limits.. but its totaly up to personal preferences. I hate tearing, but can live with a steady 30 FPS.. some other people might need 60 FPS and aren´t that bothered by tearing. And I heard that VSync causes a little (unnoticable) delay between user-input and video-output, wich might be unwelcome for progamers and might enhance motion-sicness problems for people that are susceptible to that.

Just a question for you guys, doy you turn on the VSync when you're playing a game? Or do you turn it off and does it help you in any way? :)
