I thought I'd post an announcement for this one since it was an issue most users were experiencing.
Issue
If you created a new group, there was almost a 90% chance it wouldn't sync, and therefore you wouldn't be able to create giveaways for the group. As well, changes to existing groups (name changes, avatar changes, etc), were unlikely to take place.
Why
We loaded group data from the Steam XML feeds, and they added more restrictions in the past months, limiting requests to roughly 60 unique pages in a 15 minute window. This meant when your group tried to sync, it likely failed because the request limit was already reached. Staying within this limit, it would have taken 4 months to sync our user groups just once, so obviously this wasn't practical.
Fix
The fix was simple, loading group data from another source without restrictions, such as the HTML pages. Our group syncing method was recoded yesterday, with all of our groups being resynced last night. If you had a group that wasn't appearing, it should now be displayed. From this point forward, if you create a new group and sync your account, the group will be available on SG within a minute.
