I don't really see the issue people have with Origin. Have you even tried it? It's already been disproven that Origin is spyware, it runs pretty smoothly, has a nice interface, and in some aspects, is even better than Steam (better messaging system, can still play games while banned) Most people forget that Steam's first 2-3 years, it was a complete piece of crud, so in comparison, so for Origin's first year, it's doing better pretty good, and way way better than how Steam was doing in its first year. And another thing is that Origin is creating competition for Steam (granted not very strong competition), and competition is always good, since both products will strive to be better one, and constantly improve. Hopefully Steam can learn some lessons from Origin (better messaging system, still play games while banned) and Origin can learn some lessons from Steam (amazing game sales). I personally prefer Origin over Steam, but Origin really doesn't deserve alot of the hate that it's been getting. I urge you guys to stop acting so juvenile and put some logic into things.

And P.S. GFWL is a complete piece of crap. Horribly glitchy and buggy.

Obviously it's good to have competition. But imo you're wrong in your arguments, Steam's chat system is MUCH better than Origin's. Also Steam's been out for AGES so Origin had all the time in the world to learn from Steam and even make some things Steam does much better. They apparently just decided not to and in pretty much EVERY aspect I can think of I can say that Origin is awfully bad and definitely worse than Steam.

Origin was once an EA Download Manager and I used it in 2009. So, yeah, it's not a first year for Origin.
This overlay was really slow and buggy for me. I had to use it in ME3, because you can't use Alt-Tab in the Galaxy Map. Half of the time it would just hang my game.
As for the community side of Origin, there is none. There's chat of course, but that's it.
Finally, when Steam was made, it was the first system of its kind, they obviously had some problems. Origin came out, what is it, about 10 years later?

so for Origin's first year, it's doing better pretty good, and way way better than how Steam was doing in its first year.
As Desuvk pointed out, Origin isn't in it's first year of anything beyond being called "Origin". it's been around in the past as the EA Download Manager, and when the change from EADM to Origin was made, I have heard that more than a few people lost games (typically retail copies).
And I believe that EADM wasn't even their first go at a client application, so yeah... no excuses for EA other than being a shitty, greedy company.

Yes, I've lost my BFBC2. Still have ME2 on account, though.

Isn't it obvious? Steam. Because GFWL is not my kind of place and you have to be ingame to chat(not even real-time); because Origin is made by EA

steam is the only right answer, anything related to EA can burn in hell for all i care, and i feel the same thing GFWL feels about me, nothing, nothing at all and like lezz said steam is so good that i actually started to buy games be cause of it

Steam is a DRM service that lags and hangs my netbook.
Origin is a DRM service that is useless on my netbook, cuz the games won't work anyway.
GFWL is a DRM service that made me reinstall Windows on my netbook after it started regularly crashing the system.

1:steam because, i love their support, there are times that i get very annoyed, but it is a very great platform imo

2:origin, totally ripoff of steam, but it is still good, i remember wen it was EA download manager, then they made it similar to steam

3:GFWL, You cannot chat in games (so far i think you can't) i don't like the service, I do not like that most games i want has GFWL

STEAM is the best imo

a punch in the left ball, a punch in the right ball, or a punch square in the dick.

which would you prefer?

all drm is evil, and while some evil may be lesser (ie anything that isnt ubisoft), id still not rather pick which knife stabs me... theyre all equally detrimental to my health and happiness.

But you don't need to have it running in the background just to be able to play your games (I'm not counting BF3, ME3 and retail KoA).

Not counting Origin exclusive games (which function like steamworks games) you can play DRM free and you don't need Origin at all to play your games. So i guess you're the one who doesn't know s***.

DRM isnt evil its just a way for a company to protect their work.
Games that dont have a DRM or at least a good one get insanely pirated.
for example crysis 2 was incredibly pirated because they didnt have a drm

also if a company sells you somthing drm free neither they or the company will make much money since their essentialy giving you unlimited copies of the game so that your friends dont need to purchase the game

Origin is light years ahead of Steam (not as a store, but as a client). I hate clients so you don't need Origin at all and that's the biggest plus imo. Add the fact that Steam support is a complete joke compared to Origin support and it's pretty obvious which client is the best. It's just that Steam is better as a store and is more popular.

Its funny how you think one support is better than the other; they're both the same garbage support with automated messages that solve nothing, the only difference is Origin's stupid service gives you coupon codes.

wat? I had some problem registering my Crysis copy on Origin and it was solved by live chat. Quick and painless and i even got a better version. Steam on the other hand... with their ticket submit system, you can wait a day before even getting a (standard) response. Not sure how exactly Origin's support isn't better than Steam's when it's pretty obvious it is actually better.

I've only really used Steam and am mostly satisfied with it, despite the flaws. Only thing I've done with Origin so far is register keys for the games I own in order to have a backup copy in my account in case I need it someday. I find the interface to be laggy and crude. (I remember when Origin was one of the greatest game company, before they were bought and dismantled by EA) I haven't done much on GFWL beside creating an account and feeling like I was on an XBox site and shouldn't be there at all. Feels clunky and not worth investing any time in it.
