I'm getting a new rig in a bit short of a month's time. I'm wondering what the community recommends regarding an amazing graphics game to push the rig to its limit.

I've heard Control and Cyberpunk 2077 are two of the best games for this purpose. But I'm looking for more recommendations :).

From what I've read, the new Plague Tale may be what you're looking for. At least it would definitely push your rig to its limits ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Pssst... you're missing an arm! :o
Here, I got a spare one for ya: \
:3

On a side note, I've played Plague Tale Requiem on gamepass and, yes, it looks gorgeous. (also, the voice acting is once again top-notch)

you could consider Geforce Now. I played cyberpunk and death stranding thanks to geforce ;p + saves me bothersome disk space :D.

You wont be able to play all games but a lot of hq games if you own them of course. But a bit more expensive than game pass

Ah, getting a new rig is super exciting, congrats on your upcoming upgrade! :D
I saw that Far Cry 6 was mentioned in the list Immorelity posted about. I have that one aaaand while graphics aren't bad per se, there was no wow factor for me. I'd say I have found Death Stranding and Plague Tale Requiem to be more eye-pleasing overall.

That said, I was able to finally purchase a new gaming computer this past August aaand I'm waiting for the Winter sale to splurge on a fancy new-ish (beautiful) game. Right now, I'm torn between Cyberpunk 2077 and Dying Light 2. But I'll definitely keep an eye on this thread. ^^

Control did find my RTX 2060's limits with Ray Tracing; it looks gorgeous, but in subtle ways... I was particularly impressed with the faces (and they know they did a good job, lots of closeups).

Can't talk about Cyberpunk, did not play it....

The game so far that most "wowed" me graphically was actually a 2019 Redux version of a 2014 game -- The Vanishing of Ethan Carter (Redux). I tend to play older games first, so probably this is not what you are looking for, but I figured I would mention it anyway.

Cheers!

I would personally go for FH4&FH4 as Microsoft's best priority with Forza games was graphics. Hell even FH3 looks like a modernish game nowadays, but you can't buy it because multiplayer shut down. As a next title I'd go for something that most people wouldn't even think, Rise of the Tomb Raider, it looks astonishing on max settings (at least in my opinion and with my GTX 1650). Honorable mention will go to RAGE 2.

The Witcher 3 graphics update is coming around mid December, might be a nice one to show off the graphics.
Red Dead 2 for sure, maybe Metro Exodus but I haven't played that one myself.

Hopefully, the Witcher 3 graphics update will be huge.
The game looks good but has a lot of rough edges, when I played it a year or two back I had to download a few mods to smoothen the experience, the most obvious thing I had to mod was the super low poly count and resolution birds haha. You see them in cutscenes zooming past the screen and seeing those origami birds just broke the immersion for me haha.

Red Dead 2 looks amazing so would definitely be worth a shot :)

Sorry,

GPU 3090Ti
CPU Core i5-13600K
RAM 32GB DDR5

That should be all the important stuff

But the PC SHOULD be able to handle everything, so that's why I just asked for a general game to benchmark the system with

Yeah nice impressive rig, but bit overkill especially the cpu will just drain your electricity (hope it's cheap there!).
Why i stuck to 8700k and didn't go to 10000 back then.

If you really want to put it to the test you should atleast spin it around in 3dmark once or twice (if you have it, not worth 30 euro just to get it).

As to games, i think Cyberpunk (not tried it myself with a 2080TI) or Shadow of Tomb Raider, i wouldn't get FF15 for it or FF7 Intergrade, graphic wise they aren't a game to show off with/for, nor even as a FF fan i liked the gameplay.

Maybe not the most popular opinion, but anyway: I love landscapes from AC Valhalla, colors, light, it's a candy to my eyes.
Regarding Control, I can't tell, I've uninstalled it after trying to make it look decent. It looked like a 20 y/o game on my rig (which is quite good and should have handled it quite easily... on the paper)

Not sure about that :) For what I remember, it was a known issue impacting high end rigs / GPUs. So I don't know what can really be deduced from the looking of this game...
At least with AC Valhalla, no such issue to my knowledge :)

The Medium
Doom Eternal
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order

Shit, maybe I didn't need to upgrade yet then haha
My 1070 could handle most of those games on high just fine

Apart from Guardians of Galaxy that I'm going to play with the new PC (the dip to 40 fps annoyed me too much to play more than an hour)
And Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order I will keep an eye on then, thank you :)

I've played
Batman: Arkham Knight
Final Fantasy XV
Sekiro
Horizon Zero Dawn
Wolfenstein 2
Watch Dogs 2
Titanfall 2

With my 1070 and they ran fine across the board, I just couldn't use the hair fx and stuff like that in FF15 without tanking my fps

1070 pretty much can still run almost any modern games in high setting just fine tbf, maybe not all to the max limit but still..
I used 1060 for 4 years, and even that it still managed handling tons of heavy games pretty well before i replaced it with 2080 a year ago..

At this point, heavy modded or broken unoptimized games are the one who probably could push those modern GPUs to their hard limit..

My 3060 found limits on Cyberpunk 2077, game runs at 40 fps on medium. Tbh, I don't even enjoy it. More I liked Days gone, Control, RDR2, AC Origins, Elex 2 or Gotham knights. But graphics doesn't belong of list things that makes game enjoyable for me.

Control isn't worth of your time, the graphics are generic as hell.

CP2077, Doom 2016, RDR2, Gears 5, The Witcher 3 (wait for a next-gen update which is coming in December) are some I can think of right away.

I've purchased a gaming laptop not so long ago and then a good GPU, so I tested a lot of games.

RDR2 is probably my top choice. Absolutely astonishing in terms of visuals and uncompromising in terms of details. Another choice is Microsoft Flying Simulator, but it's not for everyone.

Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone despite being PS4 games are both amazing, especially Days Gone (according to DF it looks better than on PS5). They are also properly optimized. Spider Man didn't impress me at all though, perhaps because it was ported by a third-party studio and not by the one who created it.

Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition is an RT-only version of the game that doesn't work without an RTX card, so it's certainly an interesting experience. They've put a lot of effort rebuilding the game around raytracing.
