I didn't know anything about the site and just heard about this deal. If you register now as a new user, you get Wasteland 2 Director's Cut and Trapped free. This promo lasts until 12.06., so two more days. You simply register an account, and after a minute you get a notification on the site that there are new items in your cache.

Do you guys know about this site? It's a (relatively) new games store (created by Brian Fargo, which expains the Wasteland giveaway) where you can buy games and then sell them after you are done with them. I wish we had this on Steam, lol. You only get 25% of the sales price, the publisher of the game you sell gets most of it. So I don't know how interesting this really is. But getting 25% back is better than nothing, if you know you will not play the game anymore anyway. I think I'll just stick to my libraries on Steam and the other launchers, though.

You don't need to activate mining.

was thinking the same until i saw that AMD support them

I'm not sure it's bad so long as they're transparent about it.

It's an issue when companies are misleading

Edit: Also appears optional so it's not a requirement

Only read about it on a deals website a bit earlier today. Since Fargo and AMD are involved and mining is deactivated by default, it at least seems trustworthy. But I'll pass (as I do with Epic so far).

Your link is a bit messed up.

I remember that this approach was a rather big topic in the industry about 2 years ago. Many mid size publishers considered to support them. But that was before Epic started its little store project ...

Is there a link to the deal specifics? The OP link sends you to the home page but I don't see any info on the free games

Edit: NVM, found it

Some more useful info I thought was good to know for anyone unaware. TLDR, the mining portion is optional

Tell me more about mining?

First, Cachers should know it’s on an opt-in only basis if it’s not for you then cool! Our goal is to make mining so easy that with just a click you can earn free games on our platform through the RC Client. It’s on a completely opt-in basis with proper disclosures (plus helpful tips on electricity costs, types of cards and an easy to understand explanation of how it works).

Like other videogame distribution platforms, you use real money to purchase games, but you can also use IRON..

I had actually already signed up for it.

Then I realized it was another launcher, and I'm already suffering from launcher overload, and it was for games I already owned on another launcher. I'm also not terribly fond of burning up expensive GPUs (yes, I know it's optional) for pennies.

It seems like such a small thing, and yet I'm seriously sick and tired of more launchers. I'm already having trouble tracking what games are where - I don't need them split among even more launchers and storefronts.

I recently switched to using GOG Galaxy 2.0 since it can connect to most other launchers and pull the info in from there. It's not perfect, but at least it's a step towards restoring sanity.

Is the mining worth it?

I'm not sure about the bonuses yet since I've only tried the mining out for about a day. I have an RX480 so it's not very powerful, getting about 10 iron / 24 hours. The only thing is that although they limit cpu mining to 80%, there is no limit you can set on gpu usage so you will probably stutter on watching videos or using the computer in general if using while mining.

The ratio is about 75 iron to $1 of games when trading in, and you can't resell the games from mining.

For now I would say it's not worth it.

Yeah i guess it's worth it if one has the right equipment, and it's willing to let their pc mine 24/7 so not for me atm

The only way it's ever worth it is if you don't pay for electricity.

that's weird, I got 1060 6gb. so we shouldn't be that far off, but I got 15 irons for running it for 10hrs.and that with me watching and having a game in the background as it is by far better completing challenges to get more irons than mining(at least for now). My actual problem is that in the robotcache client, I have my GPU at 100% utilization, but on every other apps(Task manager,GPU-z, HWmonitor), it is only running at 18-25%. I got my temps at 61-64c and pulling around 85-89watts.

That IS weird. I have an RX480 8GB, it runs at the same temps and watts as yours. Maybe my internet cut out at some point, I did notice it went offline for at least two hours while I was asleep. I didn't check with HWmonitor or others to see if the percentages were correct. Oh well, I'm too lazy to bother playing around with it.
