I already have Spec Ops The Line (ROW) gift activated in my account a long time ago but when I put a code for Spec Ops The Line Retail, it goes into my library as well? Are they any different from each other?

This is really weird. I was just checking if the key is the game I purchased from http://getloadedgo.com/ but instead it adds into my library which I thought is going to be "Product Already Owned".

I have also contacted steam support on this issue. Do you think they will give me an unused game code to me?

Not Sure Mate.
They would probably blame you for it as they always do lol.
But you ll need to give some kind of proofs though I guess..

Proofs. That's it. Proofs will do anything for You I think (and hope). Just a few screenshoots of

  1. Activation of the first Spec Ops key.
  2. Activation of the second Spec Ops key.
  3. Proof of purchasing (maybe.

1st and 2nd is viewable at account history, 3rd one can be checked at PayPal/bank acc/other, depends on how did You buy the games.

If proofs can help me get an unused game code back, so be it.

I think the GetLoadedGo version is most likely another ROW version

What did it appear as when you activated it?

Usually when a game has regional versions it's a low violence version or just certain languages are available, and/or there are no differences

It shows Spec Ops The Line Retail after I activated it.

That's why I ask for a game code to be given back to me.

I can only hope.

Oh weird.
As disheartening as it sounds you won't get your key back. The only thing they can do is delete the game from your library, but then code will of already been used.

Steam can't give you a new key because you didn't buy the game from Steam. You're going to have to contact GetLoadedGames, but since you used your perfectly good key I doubt they'll give you a new one.

Hmmm... They should make it not be activated when it is the same game but different versions then.

Or maybe they can transfer the game to another account since I was going to give it to someone?

Transferring games over accounts is something steam won't do.
Sorry mang. Why did you even use the key in the first place?

To check it and going to put it up on steamgifts.

If various copies of the same game have different AppID then can be activated regardles of themself on one account.

Thanks for the information. They should make it not be activated when its the same game but different versions.

I had the same situation with Killing Floor. I bought the game from steam store and few month later I wanted to check Killing Floor key which I was going to give away. There was a big surprise when the retail version was added to my library. I've contacted steam support but they reply that they can only remove the "extra" retail version from my library but it's impossible to recover the key. I'm now more careful with checking keys.
