vr is quite expensive and it needs a lot of space. there are also very few good games. so I don't see any point in buying it now. but if you have money then why not. in any case, in the future, I hope that VR will become cheaper, more convenient, with really good games

I was thinking on picking up Oculus Quest 2. It seemed like a fine headset within my price range, fine enough to enjoy things like Beat Saber. Unfortunately, push towards unifying it with Facebook turned me away. Other headsets are outside of a price I'm comfortable with spending, so I'm still waiting for that golden opportunity to get into VR and see if it is worth it.

Your son must really be healthy :o Congrats!
Don't own a vr headset myself, so no opinion yet, but I plan to get one in couple years. My friend had one, but sold it before I got to him to try it out due to pandemic :(
I think it's both immature tech and worthwhile - as long as you have fun using it that is. Regarding games of course. I expect it to be useful in interior design projects, as a way to look at projects form the inside in the future, unless it's used that way already in some places. There are probably many more uses I haven't thought of ofc.
Have a bump on your road :3

Thank you very much for the giveaways! I would like to wish you great luck with your job, and also great health for you and your family in these times ^^
I would like to answer to your questions because VR was my dream for several years:
So, I'll start by saying that I first played VR around 2016 at an event called "PlayIT" (Hungarian gaming fair) ! I was 13 years old at that time, and I was astonished by the technology. I can't describe to you how good was when I played Job Simulator!
Then, I said to myself, that I need to buy one of these. But you know, for a teenager, spending 300+ $ isn't quite easy thing to do :D
So this whole VR got forgoten as the years went by. But I never really forgot it to be honest. I spared my money for several years, and this year for my 18th birthday I bought myself an Oculus Quest 2.
When I first tried it I was really scared. I got quite strong glasses so I was afraid, that they wouldn't fit inside it. But happily, everything was smooth and I was ready to dive in :D !
Since April I've been using it almost every day. I created myself a small daily routine by playing a game called Beat Saber - with this, I've gone from 95 kilograms all the way to 86! Just in 4 months! It motivates me, that I can practice at my own pace even on my favorite music :D !
Of course, VR doesn't stop at fitness games - I've tried countless titles from puzzle to action and I've enjoyed every single title :D There is a game called Echo Arena which is a multiplayer competitive game, and it is super fun! But sadly, answering your second question, none of my friends or even from a bigger circle doesn't own a device like this. Hungary has a huge price added to the base one, and the salary isn't that good here sadly.
For me, I would say VR is the future. Being able to travel anywhere I want, experience worlds that man could never is an unbelievable thing for me. In the next few years, I think we will see some more huge improvements in this tech :D !

Also as a side note, you may don't know but there are quite some really good strategic games out there in VR :D It can be also fun for the entire family, as there are games known as "Asymmetric VR" where someone is inside and the others are at the computer :D !

Have you tried VR headsets/tech? Do you use it regularly? Never used it once. I had a cardboard set but it was not working at all so I gave up nwn
Is it widely used in your close circles? Either on the internet or IRL, nobody I know have one.
Do you think VR is worthwhile? Is it an immature tech? I think it's great for VR Chat type apps or Vtubing but I'm not interessed by gaming with such a technology. And in my opinion it's way too expensive for what it is.

i get motion sick very easily - can't even watch a 3d film with out trouble
Is it widely used in your close circles?
no i don't think anyone i know online or in real life use it much if at all
Do you think VR is worthwhile? Is it an immature tech?
no unless you see a good few games you'd want to play or if friends you have use it and you could join in multiplayer - like i said not for me sadly

I eat fruit, thank you very much! A lot of fruit in fact! Pig is a fruit, right?
Firstly good luck with your levelling!
Secondly to answer your VR questions - I've had a chance to use some variations of the tech, mostly at trade shows and similar events back when we used to live in the relatively normal world and I was absolutely in love with it! Sadly it's still freakin expensive and even if I managed to save up for a headset I wouldn't have anywhere to put it not to mention the PC to run it as room scale VR takes some room duh and I live in a quite cramped apartament. Oh, and that's the only type of VR worth considering. I have also tried google cardboard-like phone "VR" and boy does that suck :D If I wasn't exposed to real VR first and thought that's what all the fuss is about I'd have given up on the tech. I don't think I know anyone who owns a headset themselves, so I guess it's not widely used in my circles. The tech is absolutely worthwile if you can afford it despite beeing absolutely immature. Although I only had experience with like "early" VR - we're talking like first HTC Vive or Oculus Rift before facebook bought it. No idea how Valve's Index or the newest Oculus Quest fare but from the reviews and stuff it just keeps getting better so if it was so amazing back then I guess it's at least not worse now :D
and I have to ask
Almost got a really cool new job twice.
you almost got the same job twice? :D

Haha, I should have phrased it better.
two different jobs, I was one of the best candidates and only lost because of less experience in both of them.
And π· is definitely, absolutely, totally NOT fruit π. But have fun eating it anyways, if that's what you like.
Just don't forget countering it with tons of fresh vegetables and real fruit.

ah, the perpetual trouble of insufficient experience. I know that all too well. But how are you supposed to gain experience while noone will hire you due to your lack of experience?
Anyway, I'll raise a tomato to your good luck in job hunting! as I know for sure that tomato is a fruit ;)

Update 19/9:
ENDED, thank you to all who participated π
Update 13/9:
Yay! LVL 7 Achieved! I will not post a new GA tomorrow, but this post will keep running until the last GA has ended.
Thank you to all who participated!
Three words for my inner missionary before I start: Eat your fruits! ππππππππ₯ππ₯π₯π ππ
So I was inspired by Metalhead8489's awesome Discussion, and decided to to do the same thing and try my first SGtools GAs.
In short: I'll make my best to post new GAs each day or each other day until I reach LVL 7. I hope you enjoy!
Short history of the past few months (not specifically in any order):
And just before I get to posting the GAs, I'd like to have your thoughts about VR. I still haven't used VR even once. For me it still feels like an unnecessary not-quite-mature tech, but maybe it's just because my gaming preferences are management simulations, strategy and deep RPGs.
I am curious:
Onwards to the GAs (All GAs run for 1 week, LVL 2+):
