I remember the guy who had every game had close to 7,000 but that was a couple of years ago and since then almost 3,000 greenlight games have been released.

Last Christmas Steam was saying something about 8k titles, and around that time somehow somebody managed to get some number out of steamdb for games only, and it was 10k I think? So it should be between these two.

11,381 as of a few weeks ago, based on my Steam queue stats.
Starting to save up a stockpile in case the summer event does cards-for-queue-cycling again, so I've fallen behind a bit.

Wow, so if the 10k I heard last December was correct, this means they released around a thousand new games in less then three months? 0.0

Valve opened the floodgates a few years back and its library has growing expotientally. It is crazy when you think about it.

Well, okay, I knew that, but this rate is still staggering.

I was noticing perhaps 15 new queue items a day on average, which'd come out to roughly 1300 after 3 months. So yes.

Well, worth noting it includes games, free games, AND movies, so it's not just all for-sale games.
[Also, big surge of VR games all at once there when Valve had their big announcement a while back: So tech demos are also on that list :'P (as are non-game software and game design programs as well)]

Taking cjcomplex's comment below into account, I'm not actually sure whether or not different versions of a game show up in queue or not: I can't recall for certain. I want to say no, but if I'm mistaken, then that's a consideration.

i believe queue numbers correct if a game is removed from steam, but I don't really have a basis for that belief, so that may also be a consideration.

The queue counts store pages you visited, which can include several versions of a game, if the versions are not separated into subIDs but own appIDs. Then again, in most of these cases, these separate versions have their own store page (for example the normal and GOTY versions of Fallout 3).

The problem is that Steam does a poor job of flagging their games properly, as well removed titles, different versions of the same game, etc.

What I find surprising is that 7extonly is no longer the top collector O.o. He has been on the top for a long time.

Hm, that explicitly says games.
I imagine software and movies could make up part of the discrepancy against queue total, then, if that's an accurate statistic.

searching for games without any other filter returns 325 pages (25/page). i can see ~8.125, + some region restricted titles i'm missing.
