I think if you want to sell the cards you should craft the badges now. Normally cards are higher priced before the event (cause people can get the cards when they buy stuff during the sale too)
But there might be an event, for summer sales regarding badges (sometimes there are sometimes there aren't), so if you are willing to risk a few cents per card for the chance of the event, it would be better to keep from crafting.

If it was me, I would just craft the badges now though.
