No... you don't need a twitter, you can just go to their page. They've been spamming the shit out of them the past week or two, but you have to be crazy fast. They just tweet jumbled keys with random characters in them to try to prevent bots from snagging them all.

You don't HAVE to, but if you have some fanart along with your Tweet, it's more probable that they'll notice you and send you a key privately.
But it's possible to get one without art as well. I got one with a normal Tweet. Just be creative.

yep, and the system has been made so that battles are mostly fought on the frontlines (if you go to a hex from the enemey, which every other Hex around is from enemy aswell, it will take ages to capture it, and if they come to capture it back, it is instantly their's again :-))

i got mine through pcgamer us december magazine(i think it was december, cant remember now) but i'm still not in the beta, just on the list. either way, i can't wait to play it. it looks amazing

The "Clan" (or Outfit, as called in-game) thing would be cool, but you have to consider that everyone will choose a different faction. :P

Yep, but he also said that he hated it after they introduced the BFR (aka Mechs) in the game.
It's confirmed that Planetside 2 WON'T have BFR, so I guess that was a major selling point for TB. Those things were pretty OP in the original game and destroyed a lot of the balance, or so I've heard.
But hey, it's really an amazing game. Who wouldn't be interested in it, after all? :P

You can sign up on the site, but you'll need a LOT of luck to get a key that way.
Your best bet is to follow the official Planetside 2 Twitter (@planetside2) and Tweet them every once in a while, requesting a beta key. If you have some fanart or something creative that is Planetside 2 related to add with to your Tweet, there's even more chance that they'll notice you.
They also Tweet some Beta keys every once in a while, but they're incredibly hard to get: it's pretty much first come first served, and with hundreds if not a thousand people trying to grab one at the same moment, the chance of you being quick enough is pretty slim.
I've also seen some people getting a key by commenting on the videos of the official Planetside 2 Youtube channel and showing interest in the game, even if they're pretty rare.

I believe you don't actually need an account to just see their tweets, so you could try and snatch one of the keys that they're sending out every once in a while anyway.
But yeah, there's really no hurry. :P The beta won't start for quite a while, it's just in the case that you want to secure your access right away.

So who else is psyched about Planetside 2? and who is in the beta :p since i got mine trough twitter :3.

You fight on a 64km open space, and approximately 2000 players per map :-).
You got vehicles, customize everything, ... ALL that for free, you can buy stuff but those are purely cosmetics.
