i am fed up with my giveaways being entered mostly by people who do not make giveaways - i know that is not a rule that you have to make any but i feel sick and fed up in checking some of the people who enter them with 0 giveaways made (and don't give me the rubbish that people can't afford to make any when $1 bundles are about and even freebie games can be given)

  • i was wondering if their is a way to only let people enter who have either given a larger number or more in money worth of giveaways as i don't like to see lechers , just take and take and never or hardly give anything back - i know there is something called SG Tools but never used them - thanks

For starters, you can use a level limit. Just making level 1 would get rid of people who never make giveaways. But you can make higher if you want.

If you have something more specific in your mind, SGTools or Groups may help.

i don't know how to use SGTools - but level limit would be great (didn't think about that)

You can easily select it in "create giveaway" page. I personally think level 3-5 is ideal, but it's your call.

Level can be used to limit to users who have provided various levels of CV...

Though this tells really nothing about ratio.

SGTools allows fine control, but it has bit of learning curve.

As you said you don't know how to use SGTools here ia rundown.

First create a a giveaway on SG BUT make it invite only
Copy the URL for the giveaway
Open SGTools - https://sgtools.info
Sign in via Steam
Giveaways > Manage Giveaways
Paste the url for the invite only giveaway
Create

After that you can customise who exactly will be permitted to view the giveaway. Honestly I haven't used SGTools so can't tell you exactly what to look for after this point ... but I do know some basics.

There are options such as Real CV value must be equal to or greater than the received value (so people who have won 10 full prices games but only given 1 discounted game can't enter). You can even refine it to only allow people who have given 1.5x as much as they have won, etc.

After that you will need to give a SGTools URL. You must then promote that URL here on SG, example is the invite only thread:
https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/Rl7Jo/dont-like-bots-post-your-random-invite-only-giveaways-here
Alternatively you make a topic for your giveaway/s here:

Hope this helps.

I want to advice that you set a minimum level i would not set it lower as lvl 3 and recommend lvl 5 from my own experiences for your future GA's because each one that gave one, not free, game is, at least, level 1.
Easy solution to hold the worst rulesbreakers, win resellers, autojoiner user and bots outside (40% of the level 0 accounts have infractions for unactivated or multiple wins + the ammount of used autojoiners are much more as in higher levels).
And besides that it lowers the cases of problems with your winners.

You can check accounts/your winners with:
http://www.sgtools.info/activation
http://www.sgtools.info/multiple-wins

If someone have red marks there request a reroll and put the link(s) into the support ticket.

https://www.steamgifts.com/stats/community/users
Scroll down to the bottom and look at the "per level" info and you see we have on sg 965k accounts that never gave a game away that weren't free and only around 165k that gave something.

It's, of course, possible to create with sgtools invite only GA's that are protected but it will make for yourself more work to create + to post them, after the end of the GA you need to check if someone entered the GA in a illegal way (people that were able to enter the GA can give the direct link away, so others can join without to go through the check). It give a bunch of accounts that often enter through direct given links (so illegal), of course will they be punished from sgtools but more as banning them from entering through the protected way isn't possible, that means they can still enter the illegal way (and it is nearly sure that a lot of that accounts are only the sideaccounts/multiaccounts of people).

Besides that shady ru store games cost only a few cents and bring high ammounts of cv. This influence, extremely, the stats and would show you, alone from the stats, someone that is very generous but in the end he give only crap "games" away that none will ever play and that have not really a worth + cost the gifter nearly nothing.

So sgtools is sadly not perfect too.

Have a nice day

Ps.: If you want more details write me on steam and i will try to help and explain more (without the risk of calling out when i give you names as examples that you can check by yourself ;o) )

I would say that it depends on whether you also want your games to be played.
Your best solution would be groups either dedicated to people playing the games like , playing appreciated, play a game you won on sg, or groups for people that give more to this community like SG pillars.
There are also groups for the sake of giving and winning with specific ratios and other things. Take a look in the discussions.
All three have their own shortcomings.

I became more active on SG shortly before you arrived and went through the same thought process. I decided to join Masafor's group for doing most of my giveaways there as I'm to lazy to check each and every winner. He and his staff do a good job to keep rule breakers at bay.

Alternatively, if you want to check everyone yourself you could do whitelist only giveaways or found your own group if you're prepared to invest the necessary time.

Level is NOT a good source to go by, as people with cheaper regional prices gain levels at much, much faster rate :( :( :(
