don't know if qualifies as hidden gem but I don't remember it getting much attention and I really liked it
It is actually an hidden gem, I agree with you. I got it aswell and it's warmly recommended.
Anarcute is great and for that price is an absolute steal. Nice to see someone else who remembers it exists.
Big savings on these niche little games I loved a lot!
Creepy Castle -80%
Copy Kitty -75%
And these are not as big a discount but if you've got a Paper Mario itch these are the games that hit that vibe really well!
Bug Fables -20%
Creepy Castle was a very pleasant surprise, I have no clue of how combat works yet but it looks pretty good.
Uhh thanks for Creepy Castle. :)
Looks like and amazing retro like game.
Crypt of The NecroDancer. Playing this game was one of the most enjoyable experience I've ever had!
Unique funny addictive game-play with awesome soundtrack!
Balanced use of skill and luck.
The game gets harder and so your abilities gets more powerful as you progress further in the game.
If you are a hidden-treasure-seeker player (like me), you'll definitely be rewarded.
Extremely challenging achievements.
You'll get at least 30 hrs of game-play out of it.
so, definitely recommended;
Crypt of The NecroDancer - 80% Off
i was very excited about playing this one but i couldn't understand it lol
same, it looked fun but when i tried i figured out i have zero rythm skill lol
This is me with platformers, only I figure out that I have zero skill in general :P
This is a ridiculously low price for a fantastic game. It's not just the mechanics -- I love the humor that permeates everything in the game (names of bosses; that singing shopkeeper!). Though, yes, it is in its heart a rhythm game inside a roguelike RPG, so you ought to enjoy those.
BUT: one of its modes ditches the rhythm game for a "Turn Based" experience, so you can always try that instead! I myself did the Turn Based mode first to get used to enemy patterns, then moved to the real time version later. It was awesome! And, for me, the difficulty level was perfect -- I was challenged, usually barely unable to beat the big bosses... but always having fun.
Honestly, the first one I heard that singing shopkeeper I laughed so hard. It has a unique kind of humor :)
And about the turn based mode, It was called "Bard Mode" in the game. And I also love the way that all soundtracks change after you choose him. there are 2-3 more characters that change the hole game's soundtrack.
Yes! This is an amazing game! I'm really bad at it though lol
I can name a few:
Lobotomy Corporation | Monster Management Simulation
A management game where you play as a manager of a company that use monster to generate energy. Everyday you job to to meet the quota while keeping the cost or death count as low as possible.
Bully: Scholarship Edition
You get to play as Jimmy, an exchange student who try to have a normal school life, end up being the top of the school. A old game but still good nontheless.
A very unique and fun strategy games. You can also try it sequel.
EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 4.1 The Shadow of New Despair
EDF! EDF!! EDF!!!
A text-based sand box game. A little brutal and have a lot of trial and error before you survive the first few days.
NEO Scavenger 👌
Well, regarding VC you mean the sequel to the sequel to the sequel? :D VC2 and VC3 are PSP exclusives and VC3 is Japan-only (there's an EN patch). There's also an action spin-off Valkyria Revolution for PS4, PS Vita and X1.
More on topic I agree - VC is great.
I got Lobotomy Corporation last time it was on sale and I was really pleased with it. I haven't had a lot of success with it so far but I actually find the disastrous ways that I can lose control of nightmarish monsters to be quite entertaining.
Another vote for NEO Scavenger. Fantastic game!
The entire franchise is dirt-cheap right now.
True but the other ones are a bit more tricky to run on modern machines
I actually got to visit TimeGate Studios back when they were working on Section 8: Prejudice.
They really shouldn't have accepted the "Aliens:Colonial Marines" job...

I've bought my lovely Mount & Blade: Warband
One of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. It's quite frustrating sometimes, but nonetheless the game is GREAT!!! Pure indie gem.
That's a very hidden gem! never heard of this game ever in my life, how niche
yeah i was just taking the piss since hollow knight is nowhere near a hidden status
I personally loved this game --> Pid
As a counter opinion, I personally I found the game incredibly boring. Liked some of the character designs, but otherwise don't think I enjoyed a single aspect of the game.
One of the most underrated puzzle platformers out there, for sure :)

Not sure if this one counts as a hidden gem but I am going to recommend it anyway: https://store.steampowered.com/app/457140/Oxygen_Not_Included/
Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri
Tex Murphy games

A.I.M.2 Clan Wars

I tried to play Divinity II like 3 times... It feels odd, I want to play as a warrior but balancing feels so broken, It's like it forces you to play mage
I've given up a couple of times as well. It feels like the game should be a perfect fit for med but something just doesn't work out in the end.
Also tried few times myself.
heard you have to bear with it until you unlock your dragon form but I just can't do it...
I think Relicta deserves more attention, a decent puzzle game:
I liked it so much that right now i have a running giveaway for it lol, but it only for the followers and members of my curator group:-) Nope, not going to advertise group here, if you really want this game then anyone can find it easily:-)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1026400/TAMASHII/ - good puzzle platformer with interesting imagery - 50% off
https://store.steampowered.com/app/339090/Pig_Eat_Ball/ - fun arcade game, though I muted all the audio cause it's annoying as hell, otherwise it has tons of content & is well designed. - 60% off
https://store.steampowered.com/app/324140/Kalimba/ really fun platformer, especially the co-op is brilliant.. but it only has 10 levels in co-op, way more for solo. Really wonder why they did that.. but the gameplay is great rgardless - 75% off
those are about the lesser known ones I came up with for now that haven't been bundled + have a decent enough discount
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1334700/_/ new game from Hello Charlotte dev (which I highly reccomend too)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/461170/Bucket_Detective/ from the "the static speaks my name" dev, good&short black comedy horror
https://store.steampowered.com/app/961620/Flashback/ oldie but goldie for dirt cheap, played it on the hardest difficulty without rewind
https://store.steampowered.com/app/363980/Forget_Me_Not_My_Organic_Garden/ pretty original clicker
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1089980/The_Henry_Stickmin_Collection/ it's not hidden in any way, but it's pure nostalgia for simpler times
https://store.steampowered.com/app/323380/The_Magic_Circle/ this game is really unique and I'm honestly baffled it's pretty unknown
https://store.steampowered.com/app/396310/Masochisia/ great and disturbing horror
https://store.steampowered.com/app/842910/The_MISSING_JJ_Macfield_and_the_Island_of_Memories/ new SWERY game (Deadly Premonition), it was quickly forgotten, but it was pretty fun
https://store.steampowered.com/app/211600/Thief_Gold/ You should try the first three Thief games if you haven't already. Again, not a hidden gem, but not exactly wide popular right now.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/37400/Time_Gentlemen_Please_and_Ben_There_Dan_That_Special_Edition__Double_Pack/ great comedy old-school point'n'click
I recently purchased The MISSING because I wanted to see if the story holds up, even though the graphics & gameplay don't look appealing. Haven't played it yet though. I'm still really bummed that D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die was cancelled, it was like Telltale meets Swery's awesome storytelling, humor & charm.
I really enjoyed The Magic Circle. A cool mix of "puzzle-programming" gameplay and a really compelling narrative / story that many people can relate to.
bought this game for the achievement, but it surprisingly good and pretty relaxing.
the bundle only cost 30 cent in my country
I have all NukGames except for the last and the one I've tried are all worth their money and then some. Particularly during a sale
