Cool! I was planning on getting my hands on this whenever it got on sale. Now I get it for free. (Might end up getting some DLC if I really like the game)

Considering the number of games in my library that I haven't even had time to play yet, buying a game that I may or may not like wasn't exactly my top priority. Also considering I really became active on Steam a couple of months ago when the Humble Android Bundle came out I don't think I'm too much behind.

should be like in terraria. In every patch there was so many new things. And of cause it was for free.

Each game has their own cost to make. DD's production costs is far higher than Terraria. This is one way TrendyEntertainment makes money. Surprisingly even if they give it out for free money still pours in. Terraria is made by like 3 guys while TE has a full staff.

Well, the licence cost is in the form of a 25% revenue share so it isn't stopping them from making free patches, but the need to pay their development team for the work is still there.

It's a way that they continue to make money while I don't agree with it, but it is free during the first 2 weeks or so of release.. usually. Shard's update is worth somewhat as much as the full game. The rest? Meh. It isn't like you need them. You only need them to host the match.. well most. Besides the characters

i like dungeon defenders, but the dlc situation is getting ridiculous.

Dungeon Defenders loads like 500-1000 MB patches every day, are those DLCs which I haven't bought or real patches for all players?
Because this is getting ridiculous O_O

I did say on IGN Prime. The game is free to those who subscribed.
Even if you don't have an account, the 1-month subscription translates to a 50% discount on the Steam price of Dungeon Defenders, plus the King Arthur promo is still active I think.

Yup. If IGN actually convinced you to give them money with their 5 game deal a while back, you'll still have a subscription, so go ahead and grab it.

Steam key, too. No DLC though.
Edit: Here's a protip, don't subscribe for Dungeon Defenders specifically. The May Indie Royale is probably a better deal.
