Does not really excite me tbh. This game is so old that it would benefit more from a remake imo. Not sure how much better it will look and play than with the already existing mods for Deus Ex. Slapping prettier textures on the same low poly models... I don't know. I expect lighting, shadows and particle effects to look a lot better though.

Agree, as much as I enjoyed the last 2 Deus Ex of the series, I was never tempted to play the first ones even if they may be great story wise.
I believe it works for nostalgia, example I played the old Tomb Raiders and still love them, but wouldn't recommend to newcomers as it will likely be a frustating experience. I even felt that with Legacy of Kain, I played one of them when I was a kid and it grab my attention initially, but checking the gameplay made me no longer want to play it even if I find the world/story interesting.

Always wanted to play this, never got around to it. I'm a console kid through-and-through, so it will be great to have the adaptations for gamepad. Not gonna get my hopes up too much though... gotta wait and see if they censor the shit out of it.
Thanks for the heads-up. 👍

Looking at the screenshots, it definitely could be better, and looks too shiny to me. But seeing it in motion in the Announcement trailer, it looks ...ok?
I recently did my 2nd playthrough of Deus Ex Revision, and my 3rd playthrough will most likely be Revision again, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, I can understand why some might not like the changes Revision makes, but I personally enjoy most of them (I'm talking only about the map changes; I play with original models and OST).
I remember being lost in the Ocean Lab for the first time, but my 2nd playthrough, 8 years later, was a smooth experience. They definitely changed some things, for example they removed the weird circular table from the intro cutscene :D

Oof. They've definitely gone in a.......unique direction. Shoulda hired Nightdive.
I'll have to look into Revision. Hell, I imagine even Deus Ex: The Conspiracy on PS5 would be a better experience.

A Nightdive remaster would have been awesome. What a shame...
There is also a Deus Ex: Transcended mod, if you're looking for vanilla experience. Last but not least, GMDX is mod that modernizes visuals and gameplay, however, I'm not sure if it's best for first time players.
I'm afraid that you will find proper gamepad support only in Conspiracy, and this new "remaster".

It was on PS2, that's the version I played a lot. Same with Red Faction.

I seem to remember it being quite different from the PC version though, like maybe having a smaller map which of course resulted in a lot of missing areas/missions? Is that accurate? It's $15 on PS4/PS5. Maybe I'll give it a try.
Played both Red Faction 1 & 2 on Playstation as well! Half-Life, Medal of Honor: European Assault, James Bond 007: Agent Under Fire, Black, Kilzone. Lots of good times. You ever play Cold Winter or Urban Chaos: Riot Response?

Was so long ago I don't remember the differences. I will maybe play the PC version sometime, but I put in alot of time on PS2 already. I would say try revision, costs a dollar for Deus Ex at HL.
Never played those you mention, played a lot of Time Splitters I remember.

Invisible war could have used the remaster treatment. I understand that i am one of the few who would actually enjoy a slightly more modern game, so i wont push it.
For Deus Ex i often play Revision and...yeah, the engine kinda sucks. But at least it doesn't look like, you know...DEUS EX REMASTERED!
Also, Project Snowblind could use an overhaul or a Deux Ex remake, that would likely be the project if Embracer Group still had that oil money XD

Looks like they ported it to the Doom3 engine, and used AI to generate most of the new textures :(

DX is my favourite game of all time, sadly this looks absolutely awful. Terrible character models and everyting else looks so frigin shiny. Someone called this game "a remaster of a game from 2000 that looks like a game from 2003" and I wholeheartedly agree. Neither pretty nor faithful so what's the point, really?

// YOU WERE BUILT TO BREAK THE SYSTEM
This is Deus Ex Remastered – the definitive version of Ion Storm’s legendary cyberpunk immersive sim, modernized with visual upgrades, modern enhancements, and quality-of-life improvements for a new generation of operatives.
The year is 2052. Societies are teetering on collapse, plagues spread unchecked, and shadow governments shape the future. You are JC Denton—a nano-augmented UNATCO operative tasked with protecting order. But the deeper you dig, the more lies you uncover. What begins as a mission becomes a fracture point in human history.
// EXPLORE A WORLD ON THE BRINK
Wander through post-crash New York, uncover secrets in Hong Kong’s back alleys, infiltrate bunkers under Paris, and dig through the depths of Area 51. Every location has new visual fidelity while maintaining the same dystopian tension and conspiratorial paranoia that made the original game so iconic.
// CHOOSE YOUR BUILD
Breach locked systems. Hack firewalls. Cloak and vanish. Every level, every mission, every outcome can be rewritten with your chosen nano-augmentations. No run plays the same. No choice is without consequence.
// VISUAL ENHANCEMENTS
Reimagined lighting, dynamic shadows, water physics, particle effects, and fully updated textures breathe new life into the dystopia.
Brand-new character models with smoother lip-sync animations and ragdoll physics to complete the transformation
// IMMERSIVE SYSTEM UPGRADES
Quality-of-Life Enhancements: Autosaves, faster loading, achievement tracking, and cloud saves across supported platforms.
Controller Support: Refined radial menus, fluid weapon management, and streamlined navigation, all adapted for modern controllers.
Multi-Screen Support: 4K-ready UI, ultrawide and multi-monitor display support.

There is a bunch of criticism about it: https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/everyone-thinks-the-deus-ex-remaster-looks-awful-and-theyre-right-they-really-turned-those-1999-graphics-into-2003-graphics/
