Awhile back, I bought Tekken 7 while it was cheap, but my main, since the days of Tekken 2, has always been Lei Wu Long. He's a DLC character and costs extra money. I refunded it and I wrote this review which got some awards on the store page...

https://steamcommunity.com/id/protagorasember/recommended/389730?snr=1_5_9__402

Well now, Bandai Namco has a pretty decent bundle that includes Tekken 7. I'm mainly buying it because I've always wanted to try one of the Tales of games, I've always wanted to try one of the God Eater games, and Code Vein is, or was at one point, also a wishlisted game.

My question is, if I buy this bundle, would redeeming Tekken 7, and/or actually considering paying the money for Lei Wu Long, make me a hypocrite? Should I still buy the bundle but give Tekken 7 away? Or should I not even buy the bundle at all? I still feel that fighting games need to stop the nickel and diming with all the DLC characters but is this a different situation? Or am I still supporting what I wrote so passionately against in the review?

Here's the obligatory GA --- LVL 3+, and thanks for taking the time to read this, and hopefully, for your input.

Buy it, redeem it and edit your review.
You now paid what you think Tekken + Wu Long DLC is worth.
7 games from HB for ~ 10€ plus whatever the DLC costs on Steam.
Edit: If they hadn't tried to nickle&dime you back then you would have paid full price and not refunded.

this is what i was going to say -- it's fine to change your mind but having published a review it's better if you can update it with how you see it now. i think even a developer/publisher whose game you refunded would be happy to have you change your mind and get playing it again.

If you want my 2AUD cents, if you think the bundle price is fair and you have a genuine interest in most of the games then I don't see a problem with you buying it. The arguments and reason stipulated in your review don't exclude you from acquiring the game in this circumstance, indeed IMO it lends credence to your argument. The (cut-down) base game and it's extortionate debatable DLC policy made the game unreasonable at the price point the makers wanted you to pay on Steam initially; now you have access to a price which seems commensurate with your estimation of the base game value and leaves you feeling coming out ahead, or at least at a fair exchange.
As suggested above, edit your review to highlight this changed circumstance, making it clear that their rapacious DLC policy has cost them a little more of the pie than they would have got otherwise. Like you I've long become tired of the endless exploitation of gamers through these kinds of DLC policies (starting IIRC with my refusal to buy Mafia 2 retail once I learnt that content had been deliberately withheld in order to sell as DLC content).
Do as your conscience dictates, it is your money after all. Money not only has a value set by international markets but also by what you feel is appropriate. That said I did pick option 4 in the poll...I mean there's really no other choice there is there 😁.

The bundle is worth it, Tekken 7 is worth giving away on SG. Thinking about getting it just for Tales and God Eater.

You may aswell get the Definitive Edition https://isthereanydeal.com/game/tekkenviidefinitiveedition/info/ and have all the DLC.

Almost every fighting game now is cancer town DLC mania supreme.

Tekken 3 and Tony Hawk Pro Skater were me and my friends jams back in the day, we actually corrupted a PS memory card data playing them so much (at least the Tony Hawk data).

I am not sure if you can "upgrade" other than buying season passes, I am just giving it away. I will buy DE edition maybe for 10$ ish dollars at some point.

Maybe I will buy Chrono Trigger someday? I was pissed buying it at launch. https://steamcommunity.com/id/IronKnightAquila/recommended/613830?snr=1_5_9__402 It was 6$ on GMG a while ago.

Do what you want though obviously, you don't need internet peer pressure to sway you. But be wary of predatory DLC business practices always.

I mean, you do you mate. It's your money after all (hopefully :P) and only you can decide how to spend it. Though since you are keen on a few of the bundled games, I would suggest buying it if only because of how cheap it is.

Just buy it, activate it, enjoy it. Likely nobody will notice it, or care.
You don't even need to explain it to anyone.
Anyways, leaving the anger behind because you want your favourite character more sounds like a healthy progress for me ^^

You owe nothing to last years' you, he can't tell you what to do!
I agree with both of you, on one hand I would never pay full price for half a game, on the other maybe after some time has passed and if I'm interested enough in the game itself I might eventually consider getting it when the price goes down to something I think the game is actually worth.

Would you be a hypocrite? Yes. Should that stop you? Absolutely not. I did read that during sales (and one should be coming up very shortly) you can get tekken 7 complete for around $10. So, if you want to get the complete Tekken experience, maybe wait for that. On the other hand, i would recommend getting the bundle, it's got great value, great games and it's not that expensive.
In the end it's entirely up to you and what you want to do.

Buy the bundle and pay Bandai their fair share. You do want their other games after all and the price is more than justified.

Yes, activating the game would make you a hypocrite considering what you expressed in your review. Paying for the DLC even more so.
But guess what? Almost all such theatric reviews are written by hypocrites.

I mean, i understand the struggle. I'm trying my best not to be a hypocrite and stand my ground in regard to principles.

But i lose sometimes. We probably all do.

Like in case of Diablo 2 Resurrected. I promised myself never to support Blizzard with any more purchases a few years ago, but then they put it on sale for 15$ together with some more goodies :(

Regarding your question - just think ahead. If it will keep bothering you after you redeem the game - just give it away and keep a clear consciousness. If not - just play the game, nobody really cares.

BTW, When was D2 Resurrected 15 bucks?!?! I would have bought it in a heartbeat. I think I'm gonna pass on Diablo 4 even though it's getting a Steam Release that would make playing it on Steam Deck hassle-free because of the always online conditions. I realize D2Res probably has the same requirement, but there are hacked versions out there that just use a bogus network connection to get around that, and I have no idea if such a thing exists for D4, nor do I really want to get into all that if I'm buying a game looking for a hassle free experience.
I'm really waiting on Titan Quest 2 to scratch my isometric/dungeon crawling/loot collecting itch, but who knows how far off it is or what it will be like at launch.
15 bucks though, I would have jumped on that immediately and without hesitation.

Funny enough it happened twice during the year. First time on St. Valentine's and there was also a summer sale after. By the summer sale I already put some hundreds of hours into the game though xD

D2R actually has an offline more, just like the original. Also kinda supports mods (as in you can install mods, but it's not what was promised originally). I'm still happy with the purchase, even though I had to compromise with myself.

I don't think it would make you a hypocrite. You're basically getting the game as a bonus for getting other games. Besides, my personal rule for getting games that do dirty practices, such as fighting games with their infinite dlcs, or come from bad companies, is getting them in steep sales, which is also what getting this bundle means.

I'm not a fan of nickel and dime DLC either, but you don't have to lock in to the one stance you took in your review for all time. It's a bit of an extreme one in my opinion.

Buying only at a steep discount sounds like a good compromise between buying full price game+dlc and not buying at all. I say go for it and enjoy.
