Not really a tutorial, but couldn't find better description.
This website has been around for a couple of years now and it's great to quickly check the requirements of most games. It's continuously updated and overall great:

Probably most of you know about it already, but I thought I'd just post it so it can help someone less net savvy.
Post-scriptum: It will ask you to download a tool of their own to check your machine specs, it's totally legitimate.
