It honestly looks to me like a game that's fun for 2-3 hours before it becomes a snore fest. Might be just me.
But, if that's your thing, go for it. It's not like you HAVE to get the DLCs, assuming the base game is good enough without them

Yeah i know right but you'll be tempted to buy also DLCs, specially if your friend is going to buy them. Meh... I think i'll try to wait some kind of deal. :$

A friend of mine who enjoys the game recalled someone else's comment about this game :
"Miles wide, inches deep"
It seems there's a lot to explore, but not a lot to do within that expanse. You might be better off waiting and buying it along with a ton of DLC when it's cheaper.

It has a lot of pro (graphics are nice, UI is awesome, sounds are good, music is good, ...), but the reviews are not lying: there is no content.
Space station A gives you a mission to deliver something to space station B. A wants you to kill X in sector B. Go explore unknown sector C to sell the data to space station in sector A or B. That's the point of this game.
The game is not finished, 200€ of DLCs are already planned (and already on sale on their website), and the devs thought it was a good idea to give a huge fuck you to their loyal customers on PC and even more loyal kickstarter backers by releasing the Xbox version for cheaper and with content exclusively available on Xbox for 6 months.

Depends, what are you wanting to do with it? There's X3, Freespace 2, Independence war, Privateer, hell even EvE. A lot of these older games do have a lot more content and even play better (with case of Freespace 2, some of the graphical mods put it on par with some 2009 games).

I want to try it out myself - been years since I played good old SpaceSim, but especially with shitloads of DLCs announced I'm not buying it full price with the amount of content it's lacking. I will wait for a 75% sale - then I will consider it worth it content-wise.
