Are you going to buy the game on which someone spent two years on?
It's hard to tell whether the person who posted that is serious about what they said to the developer (trying to help him in depression and whatnot), but I don't really think they actually really know what they are talking about, I am not truly convinced that they can seriously tell the difference if the person has depression or not just by watching the video and seeing the texts on the store page and this developer may or may not be depressed, I personally have depression issues myself and I know we all are different personalities, so I can only speak for myself here, but I'm pretty sure I simply cannot force myself to do any productive work at all and it lasts much longer than that when it hits me in full force, so in my case it simply couldn't happen even in two years straight. My point is that if there is only this one sign they had in mind, they may be actually very wrong and the developer may be simply lazy and rude as hell as he shows middle fingers to the viewer in the video, in my opinion that's not a sign of depression, to me it has that vibe of "I made this pile of poop guys, now after two years of building that pile, it's time for you to go to smell it, asshole." I would simply ignore this "creation", not because the game sucks, but because the middle finger doesn't sell too well unless you're a member of mafia.

You are joking, right? SWYDS is still a great game. It has different modes, some extra material, many easter eggs and references, related funny puns on the load screens. And it's challenging to get some achievements.

Very possible, but would you have thought that by looking at a few screenshots on Steam? My point wasn't really about the quality of the game, as I don't think anyone here has played the one in the OP yet, but more about the power of marketing. Didn't really mean to put down SWYDS.

For all I know, SSTYOT:( is actually a great game hidden behind a wall of sarcasm. I haven't played either game, and it really wasn't my intention to equate them quality-wise, or trash SWYDS in any way. I was simply commenting on the phenomenon that things (games, whatever) can become popular and generate sales simply based on the amount of attention they attract, and this one is generating attention.

2 years for this? I guess that includes learning the tools, and having a full time job, only working on the game on the side.
If anyone want an example of a solo-project that turned out great:
This game took 3,5 years (Voice acting & soundtrack was not done by the main developer, the non-sound related bits was a one man show though). This game was made by an industry veteran though.

In reality it probably took him like few days or a week to make the game and he's just trying to trick people into feeling sorry for him and buy his game.
Also what the fuck with the trailer, that guy got issues.
EDIT: 3 people on my friend list have the game on their wishlist. Not sure should I keep them or delete them...

You don't really know the guys intentions. For all you know he thinks Steams hands off approach is terrible and allows garbage games to flood the store. It's pretty obvious this is some kind of satire from the video and title of the game (an emoticon in the title, really?) and maybe he's putting this game out there to prove a point. From the videos it looks like a functioning platformer, there's honestly way worse on Steam.

Some parts of the game look decent. Needs a little more work on the character animation, though.
Think he can add a lot more stuff to it over time.
Just don't appreciate a trailer with some guy zapping me and eating what looks to be beans from a can...I can live without seeing that.

weird, considering there is worse out there and the presentation & game seem somewhat decent
would even buy (on -75 off) - it just to get the cards have +1 games and sell the cards for more than
