They are thankful for the gifter's generosity, even if they don't win. Generosity is what this community was built on.

Maybe they want to thank the creator for making the giveaway? And why should they stop doing that, you are not obligated to do so.

Because it is polite.. well, IMHO any response is polite, instead of just rushing through giveaways while not even reading description.

It only annoys me when I'm doing many giveaways at once and it is clearly just a copy/paste or script. It is quite nice when a user leaves one comment saying thanks for all the chances.
