Unless you get the contract on the very first day that also states this trial period, leave immediately. One-week trial periods with "we will give you the contract after that" promises are the easiest form of modern unpaid slavery.
Yes, even in Western Europe.

i can see that for doing construction work, demolition work etc, but such as this people need to learn first, observe first, and costing the company, i hope it can go well on trust alone. And it's one of the few chances i am getting, not going to make a fuss if i don't have a contract monday and then say yeah, goodbye.

I'm not sure how it's over there, but here you can sign a temporary contract spanning from 1 to 3 months which basically represents the trial period. This is paid of course. After the period is over they can give you a permanent offer (which can be higher than the trial period's pay) or simply let you go. Anyway congrats and good luck!

Starting a new business from scratch always takes time to make enough to live from. Usually 2 to 3 years. The problem is you have to eat in the meantime. Hopefully you have some sort of income now.
I know exactly what you mean as 12 years ago I did not have any income from one day to another, no parter and no right to any government support. Finding another job was no option as it meant having to put down my old incontinent dog. In my business the normal time to get started is 5 years and I could not do without income for 5 years ofc. I tried it because of my dog and it was hard, very hard. But last month I bought another company (so new scary changes). What an incredible step from no clients and no money at all to buying another business and renting an office. Now I say it was a good thing to happen as I would never have had the guts to start my own business if I was not completely with my back against the wall.
This will be improvising for advanced so having your own school for it means you can do it!

Thanks (well not official yet, it's a trial but it's a start).
The trial for this job have normal working hours atleast, yeah that gives you 6 hours to sleep (and eat something, let alone relax and travel to work) offcourse it's not every day and only when it's crowded, but even 1 day, a job with lifting stuff think it's heavy.
There would be better ways there to work your way up though, and more (over)work probably does pay good, and the offer still stands too, but it seems crazy.
Comment has been collapsed.
The hours for the 1st one seem highly illegal. As far as I know here they cant make you work more than 13 hours straight and I would expect that being the case in the Netherlands too.
Other than that yay congrats!! I hope everything goes well!

Thanks, that was what i was thinking too, they (the first) did have alot of people working from other countries, not only from poland, but even portugal and nigeria, because probably they'd work to anything that's given to them.
Ohoh when i smell of cheese and i have to worry about the mouse not going after me. xD

Let me take a wild guess, construction?
Feel free to coughborrowcough some cheese and ship it over here, I have been having cheesy toast cravings since last night :D kidding, good luck!

No the first was sort of warehousing for a company that makes meat products, the job i interviewed for was labeling stuff, filling orders and some lifting, if i go through the agency i would start with just lifting and i guess those foreigners do too.
There are alot of polish people in general in this country that do alot of construction work or working on farms (fruits and vegetables) and also live here, about the other two groups first time i really heared about it, i mean Nigeria isn't obviously even in the EU.
There was a section with mold cheese, i can send you some of that. xD

Here we have a lot of (mostly) Bosnian people working in construction, thats why it was my guess.
Ewwww no thanks! D:

Kaaaaaaas!
Sry guys, Dutch:
Succes alvast!
Comment has been collapsed.
Dankje!

Better something then nothing, is the right attitude to it.
I wish you luck too if you don't have anything yet.
Thanks, or win the lottery sometimes (a job would allow me atleast to keep playing and in a few more) and since years treat myself on a new pc for a change. :p

I'm currently finishing my undergraduate degree, so I am not in a search for a job. But even if I did, I am from Greece and it's extremely tough to find one that doesn't diminish you as a human being (especially on the subject I'm studying). Thank you however! :)
A new PC is always good and so is playing games. Can't imagine myself not owning a decent enough PC to game :D
Comment has been collapsed.
It's difficult in all countries, what are you studying (and why did you choose it, if it's so difficult or you didn't know when you started)?.
Yeah games is like my only hobby (and way to relax) I got a pc that's atleast 6 years old, back then it cost me 600 euro, and alot has been upgraded since, but i still have "only" a geforce 430 GT, someone here offered me an old 550, but that's been like 6 weeks ago (but i will still keep this pc) and my memory usage is always sky high, so yeah anything above this one is always a step up. I'd probably spend a months wage on new pc and get something with a geforce 1080.

It's mostly difficult when you are not educated in a specific field or you know no crafts whatsoever. Looking for a random job when you have no qualifications was, is and will always be tough. Our problem is that even qualified people are not able to find jobs due to the lack of experience or find ones with terrible working conditions (payment, hours etc.), which forces them to leave abroad. That will have a huge impact on the infrastructure of the country in the long run.
I study Civil Engineering 'cause I like it. Unfortunately, In a period of financial instability that's the first field that gets hit as no one is willing to buy, so no one builds anything.
My old PC, which is 9 year by now, is still rocking. Fortunately enough, my brother uses that one and not me :D

Yeah but don't forget, in Greece people could retire in their fifities, taxes weren't always paid, and other countries bailed yours out with billions and then changes in your country had to be made, and those who live there can't do anything about that (i even been to Greece on holiday once and the country itself is nice), but i do still blame your government because even though things were always a loan, greece never paid most back. Most governments aren't really there for the people, but they think about their future jobs.
In the Netherlands people with an university degree also don't always find a job, if other people leaving your country to find a job, why not do the same?
Comment has been collapsed.
Only military personnel and people like miners etc. were retiring in the 50s. The retirement age was 62 and it was then change to 65 and 67. And the whole situation is not that black and white as you tend to portrait it. I'm not going to get into political/economical discussion about it. Were there mistakes made? Sure. Was the downfall solely due to those mistakes? No.
To leave or not is not a simple yes or no question. There are multiple factors you've got to take into account and not all of them are up to you.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's a political thing better not discussed, and i blame my government just the same for giving away so much (not just to greece). In short every country have their governments with their own bad decisions, but despite if your country made problems that are black and white or just grey (we also get the info only from what the media shows), however should others bail the others out for that kind of amounts? Personally i say no, and that's something one either agrees or disagrees one.
Leaving would also be a big step, you might even need some money to pay for your stay and food, i understand.
Comment has been collapsed.
I assume you talk about the very restricted rules it came attached with.
With the mob however if you don't pay back you will get killed or lose something, in this case most countries let it be that they never gotten paid back without consequences, difference.
As i said media is also very onesided, no matter the country, and probably a thing not mentioned (alot) there.

I haven't watched any national news since 2008, back when I got my first PC. And no, I am not talking about the measures imposed by the lending parties.
It simply is a never ending cycle, which both parties knew since ever. I'd like to end the discussion here as it leads nowhere. However, if you indeed are willing to find out what and how, there are countless articles online. There are even multiple books written. Unfortunately, it's not a topic we can thoroughly discuss on a comment section.
Have a nice day and once again, wish you luck on your search for a job :)

It's a scam
They keep giving people these "jobs" and let them work their ass off on the off chance they'll actually be hired.
Tell them to employ you directly or forget it.
If you want to be a underpaid, overworked minion for the next years of your life then take it
Edit: Even if you're on a Trial period they still have to pay you. Otherwise they'd constantly fill gaps with trial period people without end..
Comment has been collapsed.
It's just a week (paid) trial if they find me okay, if i find the job okay, a contract of 7 months will follow.
If they would extend it with trials, i am still there to accept it or not, i don't think about a scam and truely believe this is a given chance to me, for both to see if it works out.
Comment has been collapsed.
I assume you meant to reply my post above?
Anyway, it looks like I mistook both offers as being one offer. The first one is most probably illegal (18 hour shifts).
The second one definitely sounds better and if you get a contract for the trial period (remember health care/accident coverage) then go for it.
As long as you get paperwork before starting the job!
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah sorry was meant a reply to you, figured i screwed it up.
Think indeed the first is a bit on the shady side to say the least (as someone mentioned earlier (in dutch), with the hours but also with the bunch of foreigners they have (and probably pay without taxes).
And thanks i will!

I want a job inspecting cheese!!! :( Better than being in freakin retail
Comment has been collapsed.
If i'd actually get a longer contract there i could start put in a word for other people but there is still a big move and needing a place to stay are in the way :p
Yeah retail never sounds great. :/ Here also alot of stores get closed down or taken over by American companies and then they are cutting down and firing people.
Or you just want the cheese so you can lure mice as a cat? :p
Comment has been collapsed.
I wanna eat the cheese :3 Sadly I'd never be able to work there :( At least not in that country :p or.. any country but America really :D And there are SUCH high standards for GOOD jobs here which does suck.. but oh well! I'll survive :p
Comment has been collapsed.
There really was alot of it there (even a section full of cheese with mold :x), i actually live in an area of cities that makes alot of cheese. There is a brand called Gouda's (yes you american try to pronounce it :p) cheese from a city called Gouda, that's pretty closeby.
Well I am still looking for a girlfriend :p (well actually with a job i want to change that and hope it will change, but yeah even so still live with my parents, but it's a start i hope).
Really hope something good will come across your path, what job do you exactly do, and in what kind of store?
Comment has been collapsed.
Is it pronounced "Good-ah"? Ahhh yeah. Well, in Michigan I was an assistant manager for a dollar store, but I quit that to move to Florida, my boy and I are temporarily staying with his parents until we have enough saved up to get our own place again, and now I am in training for assistant manager at a gas station. So.. nothing special :D
Comment has been collapsed.
How americans pronounce it. :P it's more really an auw, then a good.
I think with not everyone getting jobs, it's more and more common to stay with your parents, in some countries it's even normal (though more parents living with their kids then vice versa). We just gotta roll with the punches.
You will get there, and jobs aren't special but you must think you are special, everyone is. :)

Okay, let me just stop you there and remind you. You are going to be an official "Cheese Inspector", and in my opinion that is the most amazing and glorious title one could ever have. I just wanted to say that.

I wondered why you closed your thread! Yesterday I went to go ask how the first interview went and the thread had been closed for about an hour!
What's up with an 18-hour shift? That's crazy...
I'm glad you found an alternative-- or at least a potential alternative. Good luck with your trial period! Can you wear earplugs when you're not actively being trained? That much noise over an extended time sounds bad for the ears.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah i was also afraid some might start to ask (which i wasn't in a mood for yesterday) and well i just panicked a bit. ;)
The person that gave me the tour talked to me when he showed me around but in there it was difficult to hear, and we weren't even standing right next to it. Not sure about earplugs (maybe if you need to talk to colleagues).
Thanks.

Then it is great news!
I'm not much on the forums and I miss a lot of things... I'm sorry
When I got my job I was thinking the same, not great but hey money... and the really good thing is you can still search for something else while having a regular income.
Really happy for you, best of luck for tomorrow!
Comment has been collapsed.
Certainly is great news. :) And np, it can happen. :)
What job do you have if i can ask (and did you find something else?) Well not sure how much cheese inspecting experience would be useful in other jobs, though any experience always beats the gaps i have now. I'd still keep hoping on winning something in a lottery someday too, which i would be able to afford more.
Atleast i can now allow myself to start dating (which without a job i never did), if someone else has a income (heck maybe even better) or even has her own place already then things would be lighter then having to do and pay everything yourself on a low income.
I keep this song too in mind, no matter what job you do and what it is, as long as you have someone to get home to that loves you (and maybe some kids) it makes everything much more easier.
Thanks.

I'm a directive/research assistant in a research center. Didn't look for anything else but spent quite some time looking for other things I'd like to do, so ended up applying for uni.
It's true cheese inspecting experience might not open a lot of doors but you can approach job searching in a more serene way, knowing that you still have this job.

Hopefully stays up? Insert viagra joke. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
So for those that read i had an interview today, i was called on tuesday that i had another interview yesterday by another company.
It went okay, the interview was open but he didn't dare to offer me a job directly, but it was an option to take me through a temp agency.
Now the work hours can be as long as from 6:00 to 24:00 (which i didn't think was possible in this country), and i have to get there by bike on single lane roads that aren't lit nor salted in the winter, so i find it very dangerous, still the offer was still there for me to take it (i still was kinda miffed yesterday, why i closed the other thread) i am willing to accept pretty much anything, but i found this kinda extreme, but what if it was my only chance?
Today i had the interview at another company, and it was very straight to the point, not alot of talk about my resume or job history, we started with a tour and it ended that he had someone starting a week on trial (paid!) on monday and asked if i wanted it too and said yes.
Normal shifts will be from 5:30 to 15:00 or 15:00 to 0:00 something like that
The job consists of inspecting cheese that it's properly clean (cleaned by high pressure water hoses which makes the room very wet and noisy), while maybe not a dream job, it's a job.
