Hi, got a problem with my download speed and maybe someone can help me with the solution.

So when i check my dl-speed with a browser online speedtest it tells me i have around 8,5 MB/s, thats okay but i pay for 16 MB/s.

But the problem is, that when download via Steam or Uplay my speed is nearly down.

So i checked with Steam, downloaded a game and Steam told me i use 1,3 MB/s, when i check with the online speedtest in that moment it gaves me 2,3MB/s..okay i get it Steam using some bandwith..but why i only have 2,3 MB/s left and not more?

When i now only download with Uplay client it tells me download speed is 1,1 MB/s and online speedtest isnt responding..so Uplay seems to use all speed, even browser sites arent loading normal.

So i thought maybe its the router, but i disconnected and only using my modem now, so thats not the cause.
I also checked Win 7 QoS Pack Scheduler, but bandwith reserve is set to 0%.

So has anybody an idea what is causing this trouble.

Edit: I use Commodo Internet Security Premium, but i cant imagine that its causing this troubles.

Well, I do believe that programmes like internet secrurity do slow down the internet ( Correct me if I'm wrong. ). It could also be that case that someone is using your wi-fi, or you are just downloading a sh*tload of stuff.

Alright first off, you're not paying for 16MB/s you're paying for up to 16MB/s. What internet speed testing website are you using? What is your internet provider?

Example (my speed test results, I pay for up to 50MB/s Down| 5MB/s Up

Have you contacted your ISP? That's usually the first thing everyone does, and if you're getting half of what you're expecting than there might actually be a problem with the lines.

Well, that's 10.38 Megabits/s.
Steam displays download speed in MegaBytes/s, which means you have to divide it by 8.
10.38/8 = 1.2975 MegaBytes/s

Oh okay, so i guess i was confused by MB and Mb...so downloading in Uplay/Steam with 1,3 MB/s..is all okay and no wonder that my browser is lagging speed. Thx !

If you're downloading on a wired connection, the ethernet plugs could be the problem. We pay for 60mb/s but because of the plugs I only get like 2mb. If you're downloading on a wireless connection, well, that's your problem.

You are confusing megabits with megabytes.

You are paying for megabits.

Steam displays download speed in megabytes.

Bytes(B) or bits(b)?
16 megabits per second(Mb/s) is about 2 megabytes per second(MB/s).
Maybe you already know this and I'm not helping, I can't tell.
