Can I earn steam card drops from a game that is available to play for free over the weekend?

So there's a game on Steam that's 14.99 regularly but is free to play this weekend and i see that it has Steam trading cards. If I download it and play it for a couple of hours will I still get the steam card drops even though I haven't bought the game yet? The game in question is "Skullgirls". Thanks for your responses!

No, you cannot get cards for free weekend games.

NO, you have to buy the game to get the drops, and get those drops to be eligible for a booster pack
