I was reading somewhere in one of the forums that there was something you could do with indie gala giveaways where everyone pitches like a dollar and then at a certain time 1 person buys and ever gets a beat the average link or whatever? How exactly does this work and are there any running right now?

If you buy the BTA early then later when happy hour is on you can purchase a $1 gift and get multiple gifts.

Basicly, one person buys the BTA to qualify as a early buyer.

That person does a group, where everyone sends like 1/2$ to him through paypal depending on how many people are interested.

Then he buys the 5gifts option on happy hour(which multiplies by 4). So he gets 20 bundles to gift.

That's awesome do you know if anyone is doing it on the site? I'd be willing to pitch a dollar or two.

I'm sorry, but that's pretty pathetic to game a system that's for charity.

They could send all the money to the developers or IG if that would make you feel better. The default split is 70% devs : 20% IG : 10% charity anyway, and the average price is rigged.

In all seriousness, group buys would attract people who wouldn't have bought it otherwise. It's all about price matrixing. Though I would prefer it if IG didn't have the happy hour, early buyer, and multiple gift gimmicks. That's how they think about their bundle.

if I understand right, you buy the bundle for $1 in the first week so you get the bonus... when the happy hour hits, you buy for bta and get like 4 extra bundles free (or something like that).

You cannot do that anymore though, you have to buy BTA to qualify as a early buyer.

This seems more like an exploit than an advantage

You're not supposed to trade on SteamGifts, so it doesn't really need a bump.

  • Do not beg or offer to trade in chat or forum.

This is hardly trading and people do group buy threads all the time.

Not sure what you're on about. I'm not trading (got steamtrades for that), and I'm not begging for anything so maybe you're posting in the wrong tab lol?

I wonder what the price difference would be now that the initial cost to be an early buyer is no longer $1?

That's pretty pathetic if you're trying to save a few bucks.

We're both on a giveaway site lol. I personally don't think the Indie Gala bundles are worth the $5 or so that the BTA is set at (especially with like half the games not even being redeemable on steam half the time), but I would be willing to throw a toonie at them. This is just the best way to get the most out of that toonie.
