how bad is your luck

so i finally won an awesome game (bioshock infinite).

the dude emails me the key which ends up being region locked to russia.

i told him to contact steam support to see if they can do anything. no response from him at all.

should i contact steam support myself? would they be able to added a RU locked steam gift that i can trade for a worldwide version so that i can play it?

Mark as not received and report him to support since region locked keys aren't allowed on SGifts.

Some bad news: Steam can't do shit in this situation. The guy who gave the game away will get banned from SG for giving away a region-locked game, but that's about it.

Steam wont do anything as it'd allow people to buy cheap Russian region locked keys, get steam to unlock them and sell them at a profit. Sorry man :(

Lol, I actually entered that giveaway too. Sorry about the bad luck, it happens to all of us. In fact, last week I got scammed out of my Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite keys. A scammer that was not reported on steamtrades at the time copied someone else's profile and name and stole my 2 keys on steamtrades.com
