Joke aside, I'm a posthumanist, so my views on sexuality are a little different, since I see sex as a facet of body identity and not as a personal identity, if that makes sense. So for example, if someone lives in a male body or a female body or a machine body, it changes what sexuality means for that individual, even if it is the same individual. It's a little complicated, and it doesn't mean I don't have any sexual preference, but rather that I think that human identity is more fluid than we assume and that sex is something that can be associated with biological functions not innately linked to being human, so I don't settle for an identity. I find things to be attractive or cute, but I don't necessarily find them sexually attractive because I see a disconnect between features and functions.

I've heard that some people think they can identify gender by assessing the writing habits of the writer; however, unless the person writing has explicit tells, it's difficult to discern for certain. Some people adapt how they type to contexts, which can provide the impression of a different identity in certain contexts. A friend of mine who would never be mistaken for stereotypically female was just assumed to be female in a game because of the way he typed, which surprised him (I saw it, though, and would have agreed). That said, it's hard to tell, because there is no self-reference in English that implies gender (all first person pronouns are neutral).

I think it would be pretty hard, especially given that some people simply sound like the community they're in (especially in English, and even more accurately on the internet). There's a sort of mimetic element to modern English which adapts to the community it's in, so jargon and slang make it difficult to identify people on the internet accurately. If you're lucky you might find someone with a more unique voice, but even then an individual could be any number of things and have a unique voice; for example, when I write stories, I give my characters dialects and speech patterns that I feel reflect their personalities, but it would be difficult to guess all of their characteristics. I had a professor critique one of my stories by saying the protagonist was a bit patriarchal, when in reality the character was female. I thought I even gave enough clues, but apparently it went over his head.

Agree, but the abusive types can get discouraged pretty quickly if they can't find any support whatsoever for their closed-minded opinions in the community (+ I don't think that I'll ever stop praising SG's community).
In that case, they normally just go away thinking to themselves something like "heh, stoopid gays and their supporters, those traitors to the straight kind" (I know my medieval-minded country all too well, to not know, what's going on in their heads).

I am torn...on one hand I am happy to see Asexual in there, on the other hand the amount of joke categories and legitimate ones that you have left out make me think this is less of an intelligent conversation starting thread about, say the differences of Demisexuals and Omnisexuals compared to Asexuals, but more so about sexist and smartass comments.

I never even heard of demisexual to be honest, and omnisexual i didn't really though about it.
I thrown in a few "joke" ones to keep it a little bit light (seeing as other similar threads resulted in bad discussions) as for missing some legitimate ones that why there was the other option.
Myself i am bi and was curious to see how many people there are in a certain category and surpsied to see so many being bi too.
This thread i made for that, but offcourse there are a few that make a joke, but if someone wanted to post a serious comment (/discussion) they should be free to do so too (and some did), just hoping it stays within boundaries.
