The Beer! The f**king beer!!!! My favorite is grimbergen, i don't drink except when that beer is around ofc. not drinking often it gets me pretty wasted fast but that beer is really good.

From what I've heard some of the local beers are quite strong.
Not really used to it as I am a cider drinker, my favourites being Thatchers Haze and Red which are 4.5% and 4.0% thus pretty mild XD

I'm from Antwerp and i live close to the centre. Don't worry, i can't speak a word of German and my French is very "broken". However i'm fluent in English and i think most (especially young) people are. You definitely have to visit the zoo when you feel like you're being overwhelmed by the city. You also need to visit the historical centre. You can start by walking through the "Meir" a shopping boulevard, to "Groenplaats", the historical square. Everything there is beautiful, from the many cute souvenirs shops, cosy restaurants to the old sculptures and buildings. Playing Pokemon Go may help you find all the special landmarks. From there you can walk to the "Kaaien", the quays, where you can have a nice stroll or a fancy diner.
You can also visit Aquatopia, an undersea world which is situated beneath the Radisson Hotel. The Central station also belongs to the most beautiful buildings in the world so it's definitely worth going to. You can also buy nice belgian waffles in there.
My personal favourite place is "Quetzal", the chocolate bar. It's situated in the historical centre and their chocolate is amaaaaaazing.
Antwerp is also known for its diversity. You can visit the Jewish or Moroccan quarters for international food. There's also a little Chinatown close to central station.

That Quetzal place sounds good, cheers for the recommendation! I'm not sure the zoo and Aquatopia will open after working hours, but you never know...
I will definitely walk around the centre, though unfortunately I am not a Pokemon Go player and I am known for getting easily lost :D I will try to find the places you mentioned.

i heard from a friend who visited it last month that most of them speak a few languages so you shoudn't ghave problem talking in english
and even in the smalles towns they have got a few chocolate shops :D

Just to sum up, Belgium is famous for, and does the following better than anywhere else:
Patat aka fries; have it with mayo; then try it with peanut sauce; then try it whichever way you can actually, just order Friet met Mosselen

Chocolate I was already planning to go there with an empty suitcase which will then be filled with chocolate.
Diamonds I'm sure there are so many there in Belgium that I will find a complimentary box of refined diamonds in my hotel room.

It's mussel season, and it's best accompanied with chips.
But, it's also a great snack in and of itself; belgian patat is quiet different than what you'd get in a chippie. Try experimenting with the different sauces.
As for the lambic, possibly the easiest one to try would be lindemans frambois. Do be careful to not get a sour lambic, which you'll probably spit out.

Patat: You could go with Mussels but you could also go with the Belgian classic: Friet met Stoofvlees.

Looks like I will spend most of next week in Belgium.
I wish I could say I am going there for leisure, but it is going to be a business trip, which amongst other things means I will be stuck in Antwerp.
I am sure many of you have either been there and even live there, so feel free to suggest anything to see / do / eat in the little spare time I will have while I am there.
Also, keep in mind that I do not speak a word of Dutch or German, and pretty much all I can say in French is "Je suis désolé, mais je ne parle pas français". That's a bit sad as I can speak three other European languages, just not those three.
Well, it is supposed to be a big "international" city I guess, so I should get by, right? Right?!
