hi

from the Faq:

"How does a blacklist work?

On user profiles, you'll see a button that has a circle icon with a slash through it. Clicking this button will add the user to your blacklist. This means the user will no longer see your giveaways on the homepage, and they will not be able to view or enter your giveaways from this point forward. If the user entered one of your giveaways prior to being blacklisted, their entry still remains valid."

So i understand this right? someone can people blacklist and they cant join his giveaways anymore BUT the guy who blacklist people can join everyone?
How you guyz even think this is fair?

I see only 2 options

  1. When i blacklist someone than this guy cant join my giveaways anymore AND i cant see/join his giveaways anymore
  2. remove this blacklist nonsense

Only this 2 options or this "blacklist" feature is nothing more than a exploit feature. Sure some people will use it correct but i bet biggest part of comunity will not only add people who break rules to this list. There will be People adding russians for being russians or other racism bullshit, there will people add players cause they dont like the games they play, there will people adding people cause they dont like what they have to say in forum, maby people add people cause they lose in a multiplayer game or whatever ..... i can see alot options for this and all are wrong.

A site like this need some fair use rules so plz "hide for me all giveaways from people on my blacklist" and this for everyone

thx for your time

........... im too scared to vote my opinion, people need just one little itsy bitsy tiny winy reason, even a simple short comment, to blacklist you, thats why i guess its better to never, ever comment, its too risky otherwise.....you can already see topics and posts were you can witness the unforgiving cruelty of many, a hurting sight indeed which forces to rely on being silent at all times, you just simply cannot comment unless you agree with the topic, if you dont..... then..... nyeah......... p.s. i vote for the 2. option cause im about fairness and you bring up obvious known good points but its just a opinion, JUST A OPINION to anyone who reads, okay? A opinion i feel strongly forward for.... free speech right? No harm meant.

I've only seen people blacklisting other people in threads when they were being assholes, insulting other people or trying to exploit the system giving away free games and then complaining about how we don't deserve their "generosity".

I think people should be able to decide who they don't want to give their game to no matter how stupid their reason is. Also, common sense tells me that they shouldn't want to receive a game from these people as well, but since that's very unlikely, N.1 is fine by me.

In my experience, the people who have reason to be put on a blacklist aren't normally the giveaway creating type :P

I strongly believe that the majority of all the blaclist entires will be people whose opinions the "blacklist-er" disagrees with. It's bound to happen.

I think the idea is to get more public and less private giveaways. Back in your days mods had to manually check and approve a reroll if someone from the blacklist entered; now the system is automatic (as in blacklisted people can't enter at all) so it's now possible to apply it to any giveaway.

Option 1 is fair.

As to people blacklisting anyone they want for whatever reason they want - why's that not fair? I think it's fair that people giving away a game decides for themselves who they want to give that game to.

yes would be fair - when the guy, who blacklist him, will not see the giveaways in future from the blacklisted guy too

than he still can decide when he wanna blacklist him for whatever reason

i bet this blacklist feature, how it is now, will soon see some scripts like "Autoblacklist everyone" and than whitelist 1-2 people
or people join with second account own giveaway and auto blacklsit everyone who join this giveaway

dont know how anyone canΒ΄t see how wrong this is

You can bet how much you want, with "If the user entered one of your giveaways prior to being blacklisted, their entry still remains valid." it's not possible.

you cannot blacklist everyone, there is a limit

You wouldn't need to blacklist everyone and then whitelist only a couple people. You could just do a whitelist giveaway for those couple of people, instead.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'm sure there is a limit to the number of people you can blacklist. There are what few hundred thousand accounts here. I doubt that's possible. Also, if same people win every public giveaway someone makes, you don't think someone will notice? It's very common for people to visit giveaway creators profiles.

When i blacklist someone than this guy cant join my giveaways anymore AND i cant see/join his giveaways anymore

  1. Blacklist someone
  2. Wait until (s)he creates a giveaway
  3. Remove him/her from your blacklist
  4. Enter this giveaway
  5. Blacklist him/her again

IMO, blacklist should not work for public giveaways

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

But when you remove someone from your blacklist you shouldn't be able to remove yourself from theirs.
With your logic, anyone who is blacklisted, can blacklist the blacklister and then remove him/her to remove itself from theirs.

Read step 1 as "Blacklist someone who has not blacklisted you"

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Even then, when you blacklist someone, you become blacklisted yourself at that person. So, even if you remove that person from your black list you'll still stay blacklisted, meaning you won't be able to do your exploit.
But this is only empty talk till this feature becomes available.

I agree, the Blacklist should only work for private/group giveaways.

Let's take this serious for a moment.

I'm totally fine with Option 1, as I'm pretty sure I don't want to enter any giveaways of a user that made it on my blacklist. Assuming that such a user makes a giveaway I would be interested in. But I'm quite sure he won't.

People don't have infinite time to hunt users to blacklist for racism or the XYZ players of a game, we are +2 million users, that has no sense.

Speaking or fairness/justice, is it "fair" to only blacklist the users that on your opinion deserve a punishment if they don't do a lot of giveaways???

Also as for blacklisting "everyone" - you're not able to do so - your Blacklist is limited to 1000 users ;)

I doubt I'll end up blacklisting very many people, but you never know. It'd be nice if we could tag the people on our blacklist so we can remember why they're there. I added my first person shortly after the site came up.

I'm glad the blacklist is now integrated in the site and can be applied to all giveaways I make. So for #2 it's a definitive no way.

Personally, I don't care if #1 is implemented or not. The people I have placed in my blacklist are very likely to never make a giveaway I'd want to join anyway. And as far as I'm concerned, if someone has blacklisted me for whatever reason they can still join any of my giveaways. As long as I have nothing against them I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to join.

I would definitely be in favour of removing the blacklist feature. But then again, I have never made use of anything like it - ignore features on fora, for example - as they all feel... Negative. Rude. Bad. I don't know, I just dislike it all.

Also, that's a nice option elikso, but I'm afraid I won't joi - Oh no, don't blacklist me for this grave offence, have mercy upon this poor soul!

+1,

I'll go with Option 1 too, it's clever and fair. I use blacklist (99%) for rule breaking so it would be helpful not messing with GAs from people who break rules.

Also renaming "Blacklist" to "Mutual Block". ;)

I would vote for:
Leave everything as it is now, so you can blacklist anybody as you want
or implement the first idea you mentioned - maybe less "jokingly" blacklisting people. Also, I don't want anything with people I blacklisted, not even winning something from them, so I'm okay with a two-sided automatic blacklisting.

I wouldn't remove blacklist, but your suggestion about blacklisters not being able to join giveaways of people they have blacklisted sounds fair. Personally I blacklist people who made a giveaway 1 year ago or more to get a high level, and just leeched from that point. To me this is mistake in the level system, it should be slowly declining if it was up to me.

I know this is an old thread and there are some risks with doing a system like this but I'd like it if there was an area where you can see why someone blacklisted you (and they are under anonymous alias.. of course if only 1 person blacklisted you..). The other thing would mean people would need to include a reason.

I just find it kind of like this, if I do something to get fired, and I honestly have no idea what, I'd like to know why I was fired so in the future I don't make a similar mistake. Not the best analogy but I think it gets my point across. Either way, I don't have a problem with blacklist being there.

Random question: If I blacklist someone or vice-versa, are their comments hidden to me or anything like that?

Permalink

Regarding the question: no, all it means is that they can't enter your giveaways.
