Hey guys,

so I've never had any issues buying at Kinguin. I have over 200 perfectly fine purchases on that website but lately, they tend to put orders on hold until they eventually refund rather than delivering the item purchased.

I wonder if that is some kind of bad omen? Can you guys still order successfully? Is it just me?

Thanks in advance and have a great day!

I got that all the time with preorders. Normal orders usually work fine for me, though I haven't ordered anything from them recently.

The most recent has just been resolved. Welp, their support is definitely better than Steam's.

I'll take an optimisic guess:
Maybe they've started guarding their marketplace and are verifying the keys resold through them are valid before passing them on. In that case, anything that gets refunded instead of cleared would be a fraud suspect that you won't have to deal with yourself.

How can keys be verified?

Same question, I didn't think there was any way to verify the validity of keys bar attempting to activate them.

  • Check with the publisher if they weren't part of a free promo or a bundle (where reselling usually goes against Terms of Service, thus is grounds for revocation)
  • In case of suspicion, get proof of purchase from the reseller, verify payment methods with the proper authorities.

Plenty of extra work to do, and it won't be full-proof, but it covers a lot of the areas where fraud & exploits happen

It might be because a lot of people are on the site, I was one of the people who luckily used a coupon that basically gave a cheap game for free and while I was on the site it was incredibly slow. So my guess is a lot of people are on the site?

I had one of my orders put on hold lately, I payed with bitcoin and it was the first time I had this situation, so I contacted the support and they said that it's something not on their part, something about bitcoin payments being slow lately. Next day I go to Kinguin and my order is still on hold, so I contact them again and it looks like they just forgot to process my order, so it was completed immediately by that guy I talked to. That's the only case of "bad experience" for me, I don't buy from them very often, though.
