i dont get them either so i dont use them for steam cards
on steam cards, i rather contact the person directly rather than risk them on bots as cards can be sold in the steam market.
on dota2 item, bots are fine...since dota2 rares can't be sold in the steam market...

We can't help you if you don't provide more information, there's not just "the bot", there are several different sites providing that service.
Most bots give you some sort of credits for your card(s), with that credits you can "buy" other cards from the bot.

I personally like to trade with Swappy - works with trade offers, so you immediately see what you get and what the bot gives you.

afaik, steamcardexchange.net gives you credits, so you should see some sort of credits when visiting the site if you've already given cards to the bot.

as described here you can open the bot's inventory in your steam client (click on bot in your friend list, view profile, inventory, community) search for the cards you want and the drag the card from the bot's inventoy (displayed in your steam client) into the steam chat window.

so i did that but the bot said Visit www.SteamCardExchange.net for information! Write /help for information about the Queue System! blah blah is it me doing it wrong or what

I use that one all the time.

It's easy, know the exact name of the card you want and type "add [nameofcardhere]" in the trading window without the speechmarks and press enter.

e.g. add Draugr Deathlord will add the draugr deathlord card from Skyrim

That card will then appear on the bot's half of the trade screen.

If you keep an eye on the chat window, the bot will tell you how much each card you have added will cost in credits and what the total cost will be.

If you're 1/1 try and invite it to trade, sometimes that works.

It gets a bit glitchy at times, especially if I have my Steam Client and a browser chat window open at the same time. Don't know if you're doing that, just something I noticed.

There's an information page describing what to do.... or type /help.

You have to read this page to learn how to use it:

At first, it seems very confusing but once I figured it out, I found it very helpful.
I assume you are talking about the 3 bots from http://steamcommunity.com/groups/card-trading-card-trades

The person above me posted the guide (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=175048254) and you can just follow those instructions.

You only have a 3 minutes to make the transaction once you are in the trade with the bot, so you need to plan out beforehand.

First, look in the inventory's of the bots to see if they have the cards you want. I would try to stick with making transactions with one bot.
Second, use this link (http://steamcardexchange.net/index.php?cardprices) to find out how many credits the card(s) you want cost, and how much the cards you want to trade for it are worth. Try to make a equal point transaction because it will make the trade easier. If you give cards that are like 3 more credits than the card you want costs, the bot will let you keep a "tab" and will store your leftover credits for future transactions. Remember, you can only store up to 50 credits at a time, and idk if this "tab" will work between all three bots.
Another thing that is VERY important, is that if there is only one copy of that card in the bot's inventory, the amount it is worth will be 1.5x the normal. If they have 8 copies of a card, it will not accept any more.

I wanted to complete my Bastion set and needed one card which is normally worth 23 credits. Since the bot only had one copy, I multiplied 23 by 1.5 and it came out to 34.5. Idk if they round up or down, but they probably round up. So I found multiple cards that came out to 35 credits. I added the bot as a friend and typed in "/join" which in turn, the bot responded by telling me I was 3/3 in the waitlist. The bot will ask to trade when it is your turn in the queue. Add the card you want from the bot by typing in "add " (card name in the blank. If it is the same name as a different card, the wrong card may show up. Type "remove " and then open up their inventory in steam and drag the card to the CHAT (not the trade chat). Then add the cards you want to trade. After a couple seconds, the trade chat will say how many points your cards are worth. Ready up and trade!

A word of warning, some values of card credit value may be slightly different from the website, make sure to read the what the trade chat says when cards are added. Write those numbers down if you need to recalculate the trade and just cancel the trade. Nothing bad will happen of you cancel. The bot will automatically unfriend everyone after 10 minutes, so you may need to re-add them when you are ready to trade again.

wait so its not just trade just card for card ? oh god so my card went away for nothing now i have 9 credits but the card costs 14 the same card i gave to the bot, so im screwed up ? and i need to give to him another card to take what i want ?

Yes, you need to give it another card that is worth at least 5 credits or more (because it will keep those 9 credits on your "tab"). I know it may seem unfair at first, but cards have different value and if it was just card for card, the owners wouldn't be able to sustain their website.

I have so many half completed sets, so I decided to complete at least a few badges because cards are worthless otherwise (except as padding for game trades).

Honestly, I always check the inventory of the bot before I trade by going to the Steam profile of it and clicking "inventory". Idk if the website is updated instantaneously.
