It's fun for them. Personally I often cheat in a way or another in single-player games, because that provides me with more fun. I think every single-player game should have cheat codes like they used to. To give the option.

I play to win, but that doesn't mean I cheat. I get enjoyment from winning, but cheating would just make my victory empty. Being competitive just means I'm a try hard and I push myself to be better. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with that.

I occasionally cheat in single player games for extra currency (only if the grinding is annoying). In multiplayer it's just dumb.

The new generation is lost, they don't know hoy to play, so they starts to cheat. five minutes ago i was playing a game called build and shoot. after five headshots consecutive they said me i'm a hacker, but the guy that said me that has a score of 150, and i only 5!!. He was banned from cheating.
The point is, they don't enjoy the games, they don't know how to play, they only want to be the bests

It's all about finding friends to play with who understand you.
I'm UTTERLY useless in WoW (pvt server so cheating is something you see a lot) and I played it for the pretty mounts and the nice setting. I would get lost in every single dungeon, pull aggro like crazy (I was a DPS) and dealt less damage than our healer xD
Once, one guy called me a n00b and said some pretty mean things (we were playing with some random people and as my friends were amazing at WoW the entire party always depended on them) and my friends all stood up for me and left the dungeon <3
They all found it adorable and understood totally that I don't even care about being good at it, that I'm not the kind of person to take it seriously and that I was doing it for the fun and good company.
As for why others cheat- they take it all too seriously and they're just not good enough to win "in a fair fight", or in case of SG they don't care what they win as long as they win something.
EDIT: I "cheat" on Skyrim (god mode) as I'm not into fighting and love all the exploration and the story so it's just more fun for me when I don't have to be afraid of dying.

I only play for fun. Matter of fact, that's probably why I'd rather play solo than multiplayer.
Winning IS fun, I won't deny that; however, I'd much rather have fun while playing than to try achieving any kind of victory over my opponents.

You can see that everywhere and not only in videogames, in football some players cheat each other, for them the ban hammer is the referee, to thiefs police, etc. People never changed just technology evolved and they found a new way to troll.
But its better that way, In the old days there more deaths from kills, videogames made kids stay at home safe and not roaming with real guns to show.

They want to cover their weaknesses if they are using cheats during an online mode . They cant accept this fact that they are better players than them in this or that online game !.
doesnt matter it is online mode or singleplayer, i`m a noob in both mode :P. I play Battlefield 3 sometimes and i see how ppl make themselves angry for a match and using foul-mouth for calling others and yeah, some players clearly using cheat programs, however some of them are Pro and you just can see how you will die when they see you in a second . xD

So you're taking a sample size of like 5 people and using it to generalise the entire gaming community? For as long as there's been gaming, there's been cheating. It's nothing new, nor is it on the rise compared to any other generation. It's in the human nature to have a competitive attitude, some people are just more competitive than others and want to win by any means necessary, not taking any regard that cheating renders their "win" void, because they don't care. They just want to win, or make other people angry for shits and giggles. Sure, you can play games for fun, but for others, it's the winning that makes the game fun. If I'm playing a game and I lose over and over and over again, I'm not having fun, because I'm more of a competitive gamer than most. Some people cheat to obtain that winning feeling even though in reality they haven't really accomplished anything, they're just blinded by their competitive lust.

Others cheat just to enjoy the story or to cruise through the game for w/e reason. Especially with "today's" generation of games that force the user to mine or time sink hours into resource gathering, its nice to just mix and match at will. Or maybe I already completed the game and dont want to bother wasting more time just to get to the really fun parts? Or maybe I want to try a specific combination/strategy out? The list can go on. The fact that devs included hidden codes and such in the early games should have shown OP that "cheating" isnt even really cheating. Cheating a SP game is not the same as cheating in a MP competitive game.

There are a group of people who think ANY sort of cheating or exploitation is grounds for death. Just like all things in life, you have your for, your against, your therebetween, and your crazy. Even MP has its merits for something like a CO-op game, or if the match is between a group of players that know what they are getting into. IMO, if its fun for everyone then it doesnt matter what you do.

Single player cheating? Not a problem with that, I've been known to dabble in the spawn and godmode commands in the past but cheating in multiplayer? That's just a real fucking dick-move. I'm a twat, I mean REALLY, I'm NOT that nice of a person. I try to be, I try to treat everybody with respect, within reason, and to treat others how I would like to be treated myself, but bottom line? I'm a bastard and not even I cheat in multiplayer. Kinda says something about those that do, really....

A GTA, meg a Sims azért egy más kategória szerintem, bár GTA-ban csak akkor szeretek csalni, ha már végigvittem és nincs jobb dolgom, mint hogy rendőröket basztassak :D A Simsben persze azért én is szeretek csalni, mert ki szeretne elvégre is egy lepusztult nyomortanyában lakni? A simek biztosan nem :D Meg hát na, anélkül a játék tényleg egy túlélőszimulátor, főleg ha kezdő fizetésből próbálod fizetni a számlákat, meg a többi cuccot, amit meg kell venned, hogy fejlődhess. Szóval ez abszolút elfogadható, ilyet én is szoktam. De a multis csalásokat (főleg ha arra használják, hogy megmutassák, hogy Ők mennyire faszán tudnak játszani) nagy ívben elkerülöm és megvetem. :/

Thats the reason why I dont like the Multiplayer PvP games.
The few timew I play one, is only to play with friends, and no with random people. (Thats another reason why hate games that force you to join to a server with other people and dont let you make one only for your friends :P)

Why are people using bots and other kind of cheats? Why they can't play the game like others play it: in a fair mode?
My mother always said to me when I was younger that I should play for fun and not just for the win. I'm 23 now and I learned that she was right and I play the games (any kind of "games", like pc games, tabletop games or entering GAs too) fair and only for fun. I accept that when others win and I can congratulate them if they beat me in a fair game.
But nowadays when I play games online and I win the others call me hacker, want to fuck my mother and kill my dog. Meanwhile they're the ones who cheating and using bots and these kind of shits. And not just in games, but they're using bots here on SG too, to get keys before others. Okey, I know that's a good feeling when someone wins, but maybe we should have regard to others who playing the game fair...
So I just want to know, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THE NEW GENERATION?!
