Epic games or epic fail?

View Results
[Tier 1] A dollar for a rather Bad Omen, why not..
[BTA] I don't buy zombie games out of principle. T2 is as far as I can go.
[Tier 3] I'm actually Drifting towards getting them all.
[Have] Not sure how that happened. I might need to see a therapist.
[Skip] Epic savings just in time for the Steam Sale tomorrow.
[Store selection] I don't want non-Steam games, IGN. Keep them.
[Curatorship criticism] I've never seen so many mediocre games in one place. It's like the Epic Go Go Bundle.
[Potato] "This bundle supports It Gets Better Project" – hopefully Humble's efforts get better too.

Not so epic

i am not against an epic bundle but i don't use epic at all - also why buy games on epic when they are always giving away their games

I don't mind EGS bundle in principle, but wow the selection of games is not really enticing...

It'll be fun to see how little this bundle sells. I'd wager it wont surpass the 3000 copies sold, therewith doing worse than the book bundles.
Maybe Timmy finally then gets the message no one wants him or his garbage store.

It's sold 1727 copies in what? 24 hours? And there are still 13 more days to go... I wouldn't be surprised if it does better than 3000 bundles sold. But if they can't sell 1500 more bundles in two weeks, yeah, I think that would send a clear message to HB.

Aside from the fact that I'd rather not pay for EGS-bound / exclusive titles, none of those games truly looks interesting to me.
Also, that direct activation / no game keys policy kinda sucks. They could at least make it so that people could be able to gift games they already own or don't want to play. But I guess that'd be too much to ask for... after all, their store still doesn't even have a cart. And I'm fairly certain that's a feature that is regularly requested.

I remembered it was around 3,3k yesterday. Is this the least bundle sold?

EGS: 5,586 bundles sold, leading to US$66,795.97 raised.

UK Games Collective: 7,293 bundles sold, leading to US$35,378.36 raised

For further comparison, the recent Humble Out in the Open World bundle sold a whopping "37,557 BUNDLES SOLD, LEADING TO $435,704.28 RAISED". I hope HB takes a note here and sees that the demand and profit for steam game bundles (with one uplay key in this mentioned bundle) is significantly higher in comparison. You don't have to a business rocket science to figure out what the 'good' business move would be and since HB is all about profits nowadays, I hope that will work in the customers/gamers' favor for once.

There is nothing stopping them to run Steam bundles and Epic bundles, these bundles aren't in either this or that setup. 435k + 35k is still more than just 435k, if you're already talking about profits :)

It's true that they don't have to be restricted one way or another, however, the income generated is most likely significantly higher with Steam games. Though I don't know how much HB pays in costs towards Epic bundles as compared to Steam game bundles, the amount sold and earned alone most likely makes it much more worthwhile. Steam game bundles have more customer interest while also providing more income, even if Epic game bundles brought in a higher margin of profit versus cost (money brought in - initial costs of product = profit), the overall profit would likely be higher in Steam bundles even if the initial cost is higher due to the higher amount of product being sold. So if you had to choose which product would get the most money for the resources, time, and investment put in, their focus would be better placed on Steam game bundles.

So while they can still gain income from Epic Bundles, it would be a better use of resources to invest in what brings in the most money and moves the most product which is still currently steam game bundles. It's still a good idea to diversity and businesses are always trying new things but when you see consistent gaps in income and purchases generated by different products, it's best to focus on what is more likely to move product and bring in more money. There's simply a larger customer base with steam gamers versus epic gamers and HB may struggle to consistently move epic products if it doesn't garner enough interest. (But then again, I'm heavily biased towards Steam, so that may affect my opinions on the matter XD).

Honestly tho, I just miss the days when Humble Bundle was more charity and gamer based rather than the business models they seem to acting out on nowadays :/ It was a lot simpler and I felt better about supporting it. I hope they start bringing back high-quality bundles that different gamers can enjoy with the option to choose which launcher they want (Steam or Epic) but that may be a bit of a dream, lol.
