Title says it all. I know most of you dont pirate games, And I was just wondering... Would you pirate if it was legal to pirate games?

Alternatively, Would you pirate if games had no DRM at all? (For example, If you pirate CoD you gotta play on cracked servers, But if theres no DRM a pirate copy is EXACTLY the same as the real thing)

Well, atleast it's better than creating a new topic for the same purpose.

Did you read his comment? I'd understand if his comment brought discussion to the thread, but it doesn't.

Well I don't supposed it would be pirating if it were legal. What kind of pirate downloads his plunder legally?

Here pirate is legal.

Even our free government notebooks have pirated software. For gods sake

It's illegal, that doesn't mean our government should do it...

Well, when this would be legal. Who would buy games then....And who would try to program and sell games? Nobody, coz it wouldnt bring any profit. I like to pay for my games...

If you go by the Old Code it's:

1) Always pirate for free
2) Never sell your plunder
3) If you enjoy or make extensive use of your plunder, buy it
4) If you do not like/do not use your plunder, delete it

I like that.

But getting back to the question, of course.

I only pirate games to try it. If I like it, I'll buy it.

Good point. :) But the avatar was not picked with games specifically in mind.

Would you be a pirate if it was legal? Can you be smart if you are stupid? That's kinda like this thread title sounds, pirate means illegal, so obviously being legal would change the whole definition and perception of that word. But the answer is yes, it wouldn't mean the same thing, so why wouldn't I?

The main reason I don't pirate games is because of Steam, so if games had no DRMs, that would mean no Steam, so yeah I would pirate games.

no. i think pirating is just wrong. if you hate a game or want to boycott a company then just don't buy any of their games but don't pirate them either.

the only thing why i would pirate is because of DRM . DRM is an abomination upon the earth. A blight. I hope for the day when it disappears from the face of the planet, but alas, it is only getting worst with the friggin always online bullsh*t and crappy 3 installs only and other kind of sadistic methods people think of. People pirate because of 3 major things: to test a game that has no demo, because they have no money to buy it and because of the blasted DRM .
