I'm sorry that you don't like Gleam. May I ask if it's the entry process in general you don't like or if you had a bad experience with it? My only requirements are: (i) an email address to send the prize to and (ii) joining the Steam group, which was added as a 2nd means of contact due to a common problem activating Steam gifts and/or emails not delivering or going into spam folders.
There are many reasons why I went with Gleam (I tried other alternatives before that) but it's primarily to organize and record winners and to show sponsors an externally-hosted record of validated entries and winners, rather than having nothing solid to present to them.
I hope that at least helps to explain the reasoning behind it!
Gleam is just a scummy way to handle people in my opinion. I expect most of the entries on it are from fake social media accounts set up for the purpose of entering competitions but even that is a step too far for me, I'd rather just avoid anything like that.
I understand the reasoning for using it though for giveaway groups and the like, I just wont touch it with a ten foot barge pole.

I'll just add that there are automatic and manual ways to validate dummy accounts like that, both of which I make use of :)
