The modding community is very much alive too! even after years they are putting out more work on mods for the fans to try out!

Unfortunately, I stopped gaming before the full version was out, so I'm not too familiar even with vanilla. Used to frequently check developer (GSC Gaming) site frequently, read all about the characters, mutants, weapons.. But I hope some day I'll get the game and dive into it.

I would help you out with links and such but that is another gray area, Though the devs has been laid off and not actually getting money anymore even when people buy it on steam. but when you do get a chance to play it I hope you'll enjoy the immersion and atmosphere along with the diverse mods it has, some improving the vanilla mechanics and unseen features the original game did not have.

Unfortunately, only boxed copies of of reclaimable titles are actually reclaimable. Most CD keys from steam do not actually function and are considered invalid when entered, which is a shame because I prefer any title on GOG if available. :(

Yep that is true. some steam keys may or may not work but could not hurt if you tried, My SHoC copy actually worked after some tries.
