Description

Ohai there!

This is a leftover from the Build Your Own Showcase Bundle on Fanatical... At first, I only wanted Dark Nights with Poe And Munro and then, for some reason, looked once more at the other titles and found that The Magister seemed actually quite intriguing. Although I'm still unsure about that one, I still haven't redeemed it yet. Anyway, that discovery obviously called for the purchase of a 3-pack and that's why you're gathered here. I needed a third game and I picked They Always Run because, despite the recent mixed reviews, it still appears to be a very decent game to me. But since I'm already on the fence with The Magister, I decided to create a gib for this one in hopes that it will go to someone who is genuinely interested in giving it a try and not simply collecting +1. Or into farming cards.

Also, this gib might help me catch a few more users who are abusing the cv system with overpriced "games" found on Russian sites for pennies. :3

A question for you: is there a song that gives you goosebumps (in a positive, not-scary type of way)? I could list a few, but I'll go with only two:

Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole - Somewhere over the Rainbow
I don't remember how I came across that one, but it's fairly recent... maybe two years ago. I was stunned by how soft his voice sounded.

VNV Nation - Illusion
Those of you who've played Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice might remember this one. That's the song you hear when the credits are rolling. In my case, not only the credits rolled, my tears did as well. Hellblade was a quite emotional journey for me. I don't suffer from psychosis like Senua does, but I've battled depression and anxiety all my life. That hit home real hard. I fell in love with the song and actually reached out to Ronan, the singer, because I wanted to purchase the song and couldn't find it anywhere. We exchanged a few emails (he seems to be a lovely guy). He sent me an mp3. For free. <3 But I did end up paypal-ing him about 2-3 euros for the song.

Goosebumps, you ask?

Max LL - What Will You Leave Behind
The End Credits song from Spiritfarer. I have mixed feelings about Spiritfarer as a game, but as an emotional journey, it tugs at your heartstrings like no other. It really makes you ponder life (and death), what really matters and how fleeting everything is. This song gave me goosebumps and made me shed more tears than I care to admit.

Hammock - Tornado Warning
Hammock is one of my favorite bands. Their music mixes sadness and hope in a way that I find strangely uplifting and relaxing. This is the final track from their Departure Songs album - an album dedicated to those who are no longer with us.

And to end on a more lighthearted note... 🙂

After you made me cry again with Spiritfarer, I really needed that cat-gif!

Yes, that kitty gif was certainly most welcome after these songs... Thank you for sharing! :D
Spiritfarer has piqued my interest, but seeing as the description starts off by presenting it as a management game, I'd probably wait for a significant discount or a bundle as this is not the type of game I usually go for.

how do you catch people? You audit every single entry?

That was the initial plan, yeah... but I didn't expect to have that many entrants so maybe I'll just check a few here and there. And who knows, I might stumble upon users who actually play their wins and I'll end up with a few more people on my WL instead.

The game looks pretty awesome, would love to try it out and see how much the apparent downsites bother me. Thanks for the chance!

I really like the VNV Nation song you´ve posted. Never heard of them, but I clicked through some of their other songs and so far I really like what I´m hearing :D Hellblade is very high on my "must play"-list. I had it for ages on several plattforms, guess its about time to finally start playing xD

NITIN SAWHNEY - No Death in Love
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West was a very emotional journey that ends on a perfect note with this song. Its made by the same people as Hellblade, so I guess they know what they´re doing ;)

Jesper Kyd - Tour of Venice
Exploration-Music from Assassins Creed 2. Still my favourite song in the whole series.

Masashi Hamauzu - A Fleeting Dream (Live)
This performance encapsules everything I love about Final Fantasy X. I´m glad they never made a silly sequell to screw it all up. They didnt. Don´t try to tell me otherwise. There never was a sequel 🙉

[No Link]
The ending credits of Nier Automata HAVE to be mentioned here, but I wont post a link, because its a core part of the journey you take playing the game.

You have Hellblade on your must-play list... aaand I have Enslaved on mine. :D I don't remember where I picked that one up, but I did so because a few people on my friends list told me the story was beautiful. And then... backlog happened. :o/
Nice songs by the way. ^^

I admit I'm not that familiar with their work... It's one of my friends' favorite bands, but I never really got into them. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah I'm a bit biased as they are one of my fave's too.

If for nothing else, give one of their latest 3 albums a go just to listen to Danny Carey's insane ability with a set of drums

I won't say you're old because... we might be around the same age. Maybe. :p
The only thing is, I've never watched a single episode of Twin Peaks aaaand I've never playing a Silent Hill game. :3 Hang on. I did... briefly... so many years ago, on a boyfriend's ps1. I only remember fog and a guy looking for his daughter.

Thanks for the game!
As for the music that gives you goosebumps... it's probably classical music or epic soundtracks recorded in good quality, and then a good DAC and headphones do wonders.

You're welcome, I hope you'll enjoy it! :)
I don't listen much to soundtracks so I can't really say, but for classical music, yeah, I do agree with you on that. The aria Lascia ch'io pianga by Handel comes to mind.

I had to google what a DAC was, I had never heard of that. What do you use, if you don't mind me asking? (DAC and headphones)

"Digital to Analog Converter", a device that greatly improves sound quality.
I have such a bundle - HiFiMAN Ananda(headphones)+S-Audio Focus 2(DAC).
