... And for the last few months at least, isthereanydeal.com often seems to get Australian historical prices (which are still in USD for another 48 hours or so) completely wrong, whereas deals.gg has been working well for me so far in this respect.

Im glad things are working well for you. We're preparing for Wednesday when Australian currency will be added on Steam. We want to make sure that the transition goes smoothly and that Australian folks get correct pricing for the Autumn sale.

Doesn't the no-Gleam-rule fall under the general noAd-policy for forums, while placing ads in giveaways is allowed and therefore linking to Gleam and other things is ok here?
Hello Tristar. I'm 100% sure that links to Gleam giveaway are not allowed on the SG discussion boards or anywhere else on SG and you can be suspended for posting them. You can't post things that require members to take additional actions, Gleam being one of them. I decided after reviewing several things to just issue a warning and just ask them to remove the links for their giveaways.
Some other examples would be telling someone they need to follow their youtube channel or a add them to a whitelist in order to join the giveaway.
Hopefully that helps give a better understanding of the rules of SG. If you have any other questions you're more than welcome to ask and I'll do my best to provide an answer.

There's a clear exemption for placing links and ads inside giveaways. Guidelines clearly state that this is allowed, so I'm surprised to see the request to remove specifically and only the Gleam link here.
No "special actions" are required for SG giveaways beyond clicking on the "Enter" button. This means people should be ignoring Gleam links were they to appear in giveaway descriptions.
Gleam.io is essentially "banned" from SG. This means Gleam links are not allowed anywhere on our site.
The ban on advertising is a general rule, whereas the exception of it being permitted within giveaway descriptions is specific. The implementation of that exception is left to the Mods, and their judgement determines suitability of its application. The Mods have jointly decided that Gleam.io (for various reasons) is not to be covered by the exception. This means the general ban on advertising applies to Gleam.io links whether they are within giveaway descriptions or not.
TL; DR: Gleam.io links are not allowed on SteamGifts.
