I usually bounce off survival games pretty hard, but I really enjoyed Kenshi. Too many survival games just try to punish you with the mechanics, like killing you if you don't eat every 5 minutes or making it impossible to heal wounds without some medkit that takes 5 different items to craft. It's artificial difficulty, and I hate it beyond description. Kenshi is difficult because the world is designed to be brutal, but it's also fair. Things like hunger, etc are like resources to manage, not just some bully who kicks you in the crotch over and over in place of real challenge. Definitely worth a look if the usual survival formula doesn't normally work for you.
