I thought the dev was always, how do you say, very limited in his internet interactions. Atleast as far as I looked into it.

Game and social media related.

Basically, Twitter had a hissy fit about the OPTIONAL and highly discouraged Incest route. Which is limited to like a cutscene and it's following dialogue section up until now. The game features Gore/blood, murder, [Spoilers ahead]: cannibalism, manipulation, incest, and probably other stuff I am missing. And yet, as far as I can tell, it was mainly the Incest stuff that triggered the masses. But not the other disturbing themes. This resulted in attempted doxxing of the dev (Nemlei). I believe her response was to mock the haters (based) but eventually left the internet, gave the game to Kit9 studios (presumably a new/shell company as a protective layer) to manage the game and the programming while she focuses on the story and art and stuff.

There's a bit of nuance to it all, and I am hardly a source for this, but this is what I've heard/seen so far.
