How do you move when you're playing a FPS?

WASD unless I play a strategy / RPG game then I choose the option to move with the mouse.

I also use ESDF, not because I want to be closer to the center of the keyboard but so I can have an extra set of keys to play with. That and ctrl is the most awkward button to use, I don't know how people can use that especially while playing with WASD. I use shift to crouch and A to sprint/walk depending on the game. Just feels so much more natural.

I'm too used to using WASD, as it was the default in many games, to switch, and I don't feel a need to.
I did use arrows (and space to shoot), in some older games, which was by default, for some reason.

I moonwalk through enemy gunfire while Smooth Criminal plays in the background.

10 years ago when I played Medal of Honor:Allied Assault for the first time I used the arrow keys, then I switched to WASD when playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

TFGH - Back in the days when FPS games moved from being arrow keys + ctrl/shift etc to being keyboard + mouse, it was a natural progression for me since it gives me lots of keys on both sides, which WASD doesn't.

I use both arrows and WASD, it depends on the game. For games with few keys like TF, I stick to arrows. For those with more complex controls, I use WASD.

WASD, but esdf is only only button to the right so does it really make that big a difference? i used the shift key and ctrl keys a lot so esdf would be hard to reach for me

I've got a big hand so I use

F = Forward
R = Reverse
D = Left
G = Right

With those keys my fingers can reach most of the Left shift all the way to the j key without having to take eyes off the monitor.

I started out using a controller on PC cause I come from a lifetime of console gaming. I've been trying to use it less and less for games and get bet better with kb/m setup. I use the standard wasd buttons. I may move over more on the kb since I'm left handed.
