Please convince me that Windows 8 or 8.1 is better than 7 (GA Inside)

I'm on the fence if I want to upgrade to W8 and I want some opinions from both sides. Could you guys please elaborate how my experience would improve or get worse if I decide to migrate to W8.

Got a new laptop a few months back with Win 8.1 installed.
Took a little to get used to it, finding my way around.
I hate it, my wife hates it.
I'm gonna install Win7 when I have time, I see no advantage at all in using Win8.1
