There isn't much to say, he didn't cooperate, he was on drugs and the police didn't killed him, at the end of the video he asks to lay on the ground because he can't breathe.

And yet, people gone to the streets to riot and hunt white people.

  1. George Floyd can be drunk, high, resisting arrent, lying, or a number of things, it doesn't mean he deserves to die. He shouldn't have died during the arrest.
  2. The death of George Floyd is a spark to the Black Lives Matter movement, but it is not the main cause. The main cause is systematic racism and police brutality, and don't say there's not enough evidence of excessive force from the police in the past month of protests. Even without George Floyd, you got so many more: Breonna Taylor dying in her sleep, Ahmaud Arbery shot while jogging, Eric Garner also died during an arrest, Tamir Rice (12 years old) while playing with a pellet gun, and many many more. Many people in the BLM movement may use George Floyd as the face of the movement, but even without him, there's enough to be angry about.

By the autopsy he would be dead because of the drug overdose and would probably killed someone in the process while driving.

Looking the statics of crime, the chart "despite beeing 13% they commit 51% of the crimes" would call a massive purge of those people.

So that justifies how the police acted and killed him in cold blood?! what else did you expect to see!? that the police put a bullet in his head while filming it?! I guess what you're trying to say is he was walking on the street, some good police officers said hello to him and sat on his chest for like 15 mins, then all of a sudden he died, caz he had lung issues?! what about the black people who were gunned down from behind while they were running unarmed?! I'm sure they all were drunk, or drug lord or ... also black people are minority! how tf they can riot and HUNT white people?! please don't be fed like stupids by media!

Threatened with a gun?
Handcuffed?
And pressed on the neck for 6 minutes?

To the OP:

The BLM movement is trying to reform attitudes and if successful, it could save so many lives and from all backgrounds. It just takes one group of people to open eyes and bring about change for everyone. Why are people resisting this? I don't agree with the bahaviour of the rioters either, but I do agree with the fundamental message behind BLM: "All lives are precious." They are not saying black lives matter more, they are saying they matter equally.

AND yes, maybe this could have been a white, 20-something from a poor area, previous petty crime on record, high on drugs and resisting arrest. The same thing might have happened in that case. People have a tendency to look down on someone because their behaviour or background isn't desirable, and police are just people. Believe it or not, that's still a discrimination, and something that BLM could also help prevent in the future.

Whichever way you look at it, whether it's a racial discrimination, or a discrimination based on the person's social background, it still happened. He still died in their care. Nothing justifies that!

I kind of have to disagree about BLM's message.

What do they change ? Do you seriously believe a racist will suddenly wake up one morning and go "oh damn, I was in the wrong, I'll be a better person" ? Those who stand against racism already understand that message. Those who are racists will stay racists until they die. And if anything these riots and their actions are fueling more racism.

The fundamental message of BLM is already being practiced since abolishment of slavery. And it has been ongoing with fight for minority rights. BLM wont fix police brutality by practicing actions that ask for brutal police action. And racism is the last thing movement like this will accomplish.

To be honest I think leaving racists to stew in their own juices (And this is targeted at black racists just as much as it is against white racists) is better. Who are they harming ? If theres hate speech they get fined or jailed. Having people fighting and shooting each other in the streets is nothing to do with fixing racism issues we have.

No one is resisting the fight against racism (racists do, but as I said - they dont care about changing anyway), but the way they are doing that.

Okay, My choice of time period/event in history wasn't really correct. But my point is - we have come a long way from selling someone as a thing just because this persons skin color is different. And with every generation this hate that comes from racism gets smaller and smaller.

To be honest Jim Crow laws actually prove my point - even with abolishing slavery there where still people who where racists. And that only disappears throughout generations. Is it really a secret that old people are more racist then young people ?

Anyhow - thanks for pointing this out. I'm not history specialist and such events are interesting to read upon

If it's something that interests you i highly recommend watching "13th" a netflix documentary. I quote: "Combining archival footage with testimony from activists and scholars, director Ava DuVernay's examination of the U.S. prison system looks at how the country's history of racial inequality drives the high rate of incarceration in America."

Their current fight isn't against slavery, it's against how minorities are treated in police custody. If you were ever arrested by the police, you'd expect that you'd come out of that in the same physical condition as you went in. No one has a right to use unnecessary force against another person, whether they work for law enforcement or not. To say police brutality can't be changed is highly pessimistic. This kind of behaviour doesn't happen in every country, so it's definitely possible to prevent it.

You know, I considered joining the police at one point. I went through the IQ and reasoning tests and finished in the top 1200 of 36,000 applicants, the first 600 went to the next stage, so was called back in group two 6 months later. I didn't go as I decided to follow a different career path. With the current goings on, I'm pleased that I didn't. I get paid a lot better than they do and my job is safer. Irish police don't behave like American police though.

I totally agree that the whole problem with police should be fixed and it can be fixed. No discussion there.
All I'm saying - I don't see how BLM is contributing in solving this problem.

What I'm seeing now is people rioting, being aggressive and provoking police even further. To the point where people actually root for police and that they kill more minorities. Fixing police is a two way street where you have to fix the society as well. Fix the drug problem, gun problem. Start at fixing the attitude that being a criminal is cool. That cops are pigs and everyone is out to get you.

This is similar with my comment about racism. Those police workers who are aggressive wont one day suddenly wake up and realize that what they are doing is wrong just because there's a movement against them.

Black Lives Matter weren't necessarily the ones doing the rioting. I hate that the rioters have taken away from the good things that the movement has been trying to achieve. Many of the rioters were white far-left anarchists. They weren't all black people.

Whenever there is a protest of this magnitude, you get groups of people who go out there with the intention of stirring up some trouble, tear down the system and so on.

I've seen it happen here in Ireland when they were trying to improve relations with the North by letting unionists do a march in Dublin. Peaceful protestors showed up with their platcards. But, a group of yobs/anarchists went into the city, not to protest, but to throw some rocks, bottles and barriers at police, they smashed windows and looted shops and set parked cars on fire in the city center. None of this was carried out by the genuine protestors who had been peaceful for the entire morning. They had to bring out the water cannons to disperse them.

People think it's great fun to do these things, but they're generally not the people who are genuinely advocating for change.

It's rather telling how defenders will say that it's unfair to judge all cops for the actions of a few, and then go ahead and blame all protesters for isolated incidents of rioting.

It's almost like they weren't interested in a balanced argument in the first place.

By the length of your text I was expectating a blacklist, I was wrong.

Everytime people try to use the "all lives matters" they are shut down, they look more racist than white people, and everyone says white people created racism, so we know deeply about that.
Terry Crews was using All Lives Matters, and those "people" was trying to cancel him, go to his twitter and see the BLM "love".

I generally don't blacklist people on the forum. Although, someone did blacklist me for my above post.

Yeah, but many of the people using "All Lives Matter" are doing so maliciously. (I don't know who Terry Crews is tbh. Just googled his name. I don't follow American media that closely if I'm honest.) They have been using it as an excuse to block out BLM. I know some are racist, but sometimes I wonder if it's ignorance for others. Do they think that BLM is trying to say they matter more? Any sane person listening to what the ordinary supporters of BLM have to say understands that they aren't trying to cancel out white people. They just want every person to be valued the same way.

And sure, there are black people who have never or rarely experienced racism themselves and they're lucky. That all depends on the area they live in.

There was this elderly English lady who happened to be black speaking about her experiences. She said that in the small town where she grew up, everyone was so great. The people she grew up with treated her the same as everyone else and she never felt "different" Her skin colour was never an issue, so race wasn't something she really thought about. BUT, when she eventually got a job as a nurse and moved away to a bigger city, she got to know exactly what it felt like to be discriminated. Some people were like "I don't want her anywhere near me." They judged her not on her skill or personality, but purely on the colour of her skin before she even got to speak to them.

Personal experiences can shape opinions. A person of colour saying that racism doesn't exist (and I've seen them on Twitter) is just lucky enough to be in a position to not experience it. It exists in varying degrees depending on where you live.

You're entitled to your opinion, though, I don't really agree with it. I can sure as hell tell that the man had phycological issues and I'm not an officer trained to handle these situations like they're suppose to be. Just think about this.. have you ever been scared to come in contact with the police because you were afraid that they'd end up killing you or mistreating you based off the color of your skin? It's sad as hell that the police are even being backed by idiots with an opinion.

He did not die from an overdose. The autopsy deemed it a homicide and indicated that the cause of death was "cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression".

all i see is two parties having no idea how to act properly. looks like floyd was definitely resisting, but there's no reason at all that interaction should have resulted in his death. the cops are the ones who are trained to do the right thing and are supposed to be held to a higher standard. i don't see anything in this video that excuses the act of kneeling on a man's neck until he passes out, then continuing until he's dead. floyd wasn't violent the least bit in this video and i guarantee if he had tried anything, a taser would've brought him right down. i just can't understand how anyone can say those cops did the right thing.
