Q + A for EXTREMELY COMMON QUESTIONS THAT GET ASKED REPEATEDLY:

Q: How does this 10% off coupon work? Does it work for 1st time subscribers only? What about current subscribers?

  • Note: There are 2 types of coupons: one for new subscribers, and one for current subscribers

  • A: To both first time subscribers AND current subscribers: You CAN use the 10% off coupon (depending on which one you have ---> see ADDENDUM below). They autocharge you $10.80 (if you have the coupon) one week before the bundle goes live, or you can pay early to get the the featured unlock game and still get the bundle for $10.80, or if not subscribed, pay with the coupon anytime before the bundle goes live.

  • ADDENDUM (June 3): As of recently, there are only coupons for NEW SUBSCRIBERS in circulation. I haven't seen any coupons for Existing Subscribers (yet).

If you pay $12 for next month's bundle, you will get a key for the featured game immediately. If you are already a member and choose to wait it out for the pay-date (1 week (JUNE 24th) before the JULY bundle launchesmon Friday, JULY 1st), you will get a key for the game then.
Note: Some people may have 10% off coupons for NEW subscribers for the monthly bundle. These coupons will apply to your purchase, and you will pay $10.80 instead of $12.

Q: If i've subscribed before, maybe I can just unsubscribe and then resubscribe to use the NEW subscriber coupon?

  • A: Unfortunately. THIS DOES NOT WORK. I repeat, UNSUBBING AND RESUBBING DOES NOT WORK.

  • If you want to use the coupon, you'd need a new account with the NEW subscriber coupon. Otherwise, you'll have to pay the full price ($12).

Q: "When is the latest I can unsubscribe (if I am a [re]current subscriber) to avoid being autocharged for the next month's bundle (JULY) if I subscribe for this one now?"

  • "[re]current" meaning you let the system autocharge you based on your payment details on your account profile"*
  • A: ONE WEEK before the next bundle goes live, you will be autocharged if you are currently subscribed. This means you will be autocharged JUNE 24th if you want the JULY MONTHLY BUNDLE.

  • I recommend unsubscribing/canceling subscription right away if you know you don't want next month's bundle.

Q: BUT WAIT!! I decided that I do want the JULY bundle and it has passed JUNE 24th...! Can I still get it??

  • A: YES. JUNE 24th is the day they AUTOcharge you if you are a recurrent/current subscriber

    • [re]current meaning you let the system AUTOcharge you because your payment details are in the system and you don't unsubscribe
  • HOWEVER, if you want JUST the JUNE bundle, subscribe for it NOW, PAY, and IMMEDIATELY UNSUBSCRIBE so that you DO NOT get charged for the JULY bundle.

Your LAST day to get the JULY bundle is JULY 1st BEFORE 10AM PDT.

Q: Can I unsubscribe right away if I just want the JULY Bundle?

  • A: YES, you can unsubscribe away if you just want the JULY bundle. You will get the featured game + Everything else that will be in the bundle once it goes live.

Q: What is the latest I can be "subscribed" to to avoid being autocharged for the next month's bundle? (AUGUST Bundle)

  • A: You MUST unsubscribe 1 week before the bundle goes live to avoid being charged for the JULY bundle. Otherwise, you will be autocharged if you are currently subscribed on JUNE 24th if you are getting the JULY MONTHLY BUNDLE.

Q: Will I get everything inside the bundle if I subscribe just for JUST the JULY monthly bundle, and then unsubscribe right away?

  • A: Yes, you get the entire JULY bundle and won't be charged for the next (AUGUST) bundle.

Q: Do they reveal games early?

  • A: NO. They do not provide hints. Sometimes they may, but this is very RARE. One or two days before, they will reveal a Humble "Original," which is an exclusive DRM-Free game provided only by Humble Bundle. However, they DO NOT REVEAL GAMES BEFORE THE BUNDLE GOES LIVE.

Q: Will I still get the Early Unlock game(s) if I don't want to pay early for the bundle? Will I be able to get the game if i buy it NOW before the bundle goes live?

  • A: YES. ANYONE who buys the bundle, whether you pay early, have a current subscription and let HB autocharge you 1 week before the bundle goes live, or don't have a subscription but decide you want to purchase the bundle, AS LONG AS YOU PAY FOR THE BUNDLE ANYIME BEFORE THE BUNDLE GOES LIVE, YOU WILL GET THE EARLY UNLOCK GAME.

  • The only benefit to paying early is getting a Steam key for the early unlock game earlier than people who choose to pay later on.

Q: How do I subscribe again? Or... How the heck do I cancel my subscription? How do I view what kind of plan I have for Monthly Bundle Subscriptions?

  • A: go to your ACCOUNT SETTINGS and check to see if you are subscribed for the monthly bundle.

  • If you are subscribed, it should look like this on your account page: HB MONTHLY PLAN

  • Now, You will see TWO options

    1. Change my plan ---> looks like THIS
    2. Cancel My subscription
    • Click on the links to either choose what plan you want (subscribe for auto-payment) or CANCEL your subscription

Q: After the monthly bundle goes live, can I get a refund for the bundle?

  • A: No, you will not be eligible for refunds after the games have been revealed. You can try to contact support and request a refund, but you probably won't get your money back after the bundle goes live.

  • If I'm not mistaken, you can only get a refund if you request one 1 WEEK BEFORE THE BUNDLE GOES LIVE (June 24 for the July bundle, and May 27th for the June bundle).

Please read the

FAQ

if you have questions regarding:

How do I join?
Can I gift Humble Monthly?
How do I cancel?
How do I change my card info / email address?
Can I get multiple copies of Humble Monthly?

Also, again ... "When is the latest I can unsubscribe if i am a recurrent/current subscriber to avoid being autocharged for the next month's bundle if I subscribe for this one now?"

A: ONE WEEK before the next bundle goes live, you will be autocharged. This means you will be autocharged JUNE 24th if you want the JULY MONTHLY BUNDLE.

I recommend unsubscribing/canceling subscription right away if you know you don't want next month's bundle (AUGUST).

One thing that made the difference for me between ARK and Rust and Hurtworld, is that ARK seems to have a community of people who enjoy single-player mode:

It does look like Rust - though one of my devs told me he's played it and it's intensely fierce depending on which server he selects.

Being against the grain I've enjoyed every bundle so far, the last one was stellar really with none of them being bundled before. People like to complain though almost always.

However Hurtworld seems like a really poor early unlock choice. Although I'm not going to unsub just in case its a curveball "you shouldn't have unsubbed never unsub again" bundle, the next early unlock hopefully will be much better.

If it isn't better or it isn't a curveball "don't unsub fools" bundle i'll be dropping my subscription happy with what I've got out of it. Its definitely worth a one month gamble.

Multiplayer survival is among my least favorite genres. ARK was bad enough, and Hurtworld looks worse. Those usually last a couple of years before the servers are shut down, and then you're left with nothing.

...definitely going to skip this month, and simply buy the keys later if there's anything of interest in the bundle.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Haven't skipped a single month so far... Definitely skipping this month and I'll just trade for whatever game I want.

8 x 12=$96 +(-1.2 x 8) = $86.4 MINIMUM I spent... That is a shit ton of money.

Also this month's bundle is supposedly worth $131... Does anyone know if this is with or without Hurtworld?

If you're speaking of the July bundle, then the value includes the early unlock.

It is worded poorly and ambiguously though, as is so much of Humble's marketing material.

I know hurtworld is not appealing, but buying a monthly near a summer sale is not a good idea me thinks

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'm thinking the opposite. Buying games in the summer sale close to the monthly bundle might be a bad idea. At least if you're planning to get it.

Luckily the bundle is released before the summer sale ends, and you can also do refunds.

Are you seriously saying that blind purchases are better than getting 50-75% sale games that you actually wanted ?

I meant to say that, if you're going to buy the monthly bundle, getting games in the summer sale might be risky since they may appear in the bundle. It's not the opposite of what you said, I don't know why I said that.

summer sale will be more than a full week I think? If the date aligns, the HIB monthly will be revealed first before summer sale ends.

I'm still planning to buy it since my partner in library sharing on steam is not planning to get it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, that's what I think too. Isn't it 2 weeks? In that case I'm going to wait until after July 1 to buy games since I've already paid for this months bundle. Unless a game I really want has a cut off date before July 1.

Comment has been collapsed.

I actually made some profit from last monthly bundle by selling 4 games for 9 keys (which is priced at least $20 in market) + I still have 3 games left and so far I think most of HB monthly would get me 8 to 12 keys (if I traded them all) so I have to say even though they are a blind purchases I always see them as aprofitabl purchases.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think I made profit for one of the early monthlys. I'm just happy if I can get some money back. Got 3 keys for Hurtworld which made me 6€ in wallet funds. Trading for some unwanted games is a big reason why I keep buying these, but I don't think people should go in expecting to make a profit. There's always a few games that are harder to trade than others. If I break even I consider myself lucky.

The July Monthly games will be revealed a few days before the Steam Summer Sale ends. Does this mean everyone who purchased this bundle (like me) should wait until the games are revealed, or is there a reason to buy games on the sale now?

I had just come here to pose that very question. There aren't many things on my wishlist that I'm confident they would never include in a monthly. And if I buy now I'll be ineligible for refunds by the time I find out. It's a bit of a quandary.

Don't you have a 2 week window to ask for a refund? Just don't mine cards for any games you buy (and don't play longer than 2 hours) and you should be fine. I think.

Still, I'd best not to buy anything I want to play too badly. :)

You could buy it now and not play it, but then you might as well hold off on buying it. Personally, I'm not that worried. Even if something is in it that I just bought, I'll just trade or give it away here.

I'm sure that if you can provide solid proof that if it doesn't work that you can get a refund. But it makes sense not to give a refund if you don't like the games. You know it's a gamble once you subscribe. It's like giving a refund to your lottery tickets if you don't win (well, not exactly the same, but kind of).

Not sure. >.< I heard different things. I know once way back in November they did grant refunds, but afterwords I heard people weren't able to get refunds after all the games were revealed (bundle went live). :/ whether or not they revealed their keys... Not sure :/

Edit: Okay well I looked through all my old messages. This user who bought the May Bundle claims that even if you don't reveal the keys, you can't get a refund https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/ayyhOri

Yeah, they were only doing refunds for the first bundle, because so many people were new to the concept of a blind bundle. That's all over.

I bet they would still honor refunds for EU buyers due to our laws. Just like we can refund the Square Enix surprise boxes without any questions asked. As long as you don't use/reveal any of the keys.

Yes, that may be true. However, if you try to get refunds more than once or twice, they could also end up closing your account. It's like trying to do a chargeback on Steam, you'll get your money back, but your account will also be locked/closed/deleted.

That's what I thought too :/ they aren't so generous to refunding you especially for a blind order when it's the buyer who decides if he or she wants to take the risk.

yeah igotelbows was asking about getting refunds after the bundle goes live, not after they autocharge you 1 week before it goes live.

I would assume they would revoke your keys tho if you ask for a refund ... because then that would be like getting a game for free D:

Thanks for the confirmation though that they do refund you before the bundle goes live. I did know already that they would because other people said "oops i forgot to unsubscribe" and all they had to do was contact support, but it's good to know they continue to honor that as long as its BEFORE the bundle goes live.

If you don't mind trading you can possibly sell hurtworld in the trade section for some money making the bundle cheaper or you can wait for the bundle to release and try to trade for the games you want.

It's pretty easy to take any games you don't like in these things and trade them away to anybody who DOES want them for either keys (which you can just sell off), or for wishlist games since they're generally pretty slightly higher valued games. Just last month, I got 3 games off my wishlist in exchange for monthly games I didn't want.

LOL after looking at some of these reviews on Steam it's pretty clear that most of them don't understand what Early Access is actually. The game is in development still.. it's probably in closed Alpha. Early access is getting to play the game early but the main thing is helping with development and a big part is testing things and reporting bugs.. which clearly most people don't seem to understand. Games can take years to develop.

It's pretty clear to see that the devs haven't given up on the game like some suggest lol. They run dev diaries and there are regular patches. If you go to http://hurtworld.com/ you can see what the devs are doing . A majority of the patches are going to be bug fixes though, that's what it's like in early development. There will be items and content to but it could go on for a couple or even several months sometimes without any kinda of content update. So when you look at these reviews you need to keep the things I mentioned in mind because if you throw away the ones who clearly don't understand what Early Access is then things are looking a lot better.

I don't know if I'll be getting the monthly sub or not but I just wanted to point out some things that might help you decide.
