HELLO EVERYBODY!
I've been into Giveaway trains for a while, and I decided to make one for my fellow drifting amigos!

So, I'm really curious: What is your favorite drifting car, track and soundtrack to drift to?
I really love drifting in my sweet, sweet AE86 in Special Stage Route 5 and Apricot Hill in Gran Turismo 6, and in Tsukuba in other racing sims. Always listening to some eurobeat

Anyways: here comes the train! (Ended!)

What is your favorite drifting car?

View Results
Toyota AE86
Nissan Silvia
Mazda RX series
Nissan Skyline
Subaru Impreza
Toyota Altezza
Other (please comment!)

As I love Skyline, I belive it's place is on some highways, racing with other cars. For drifting I would choose Hachi-Roku.

BTW, watch it :D

Hachi-Roku > All
I absolutely love that car! (All of the pictures in this train are AE86s drifting)

But hey, in that video it's DoriKin driving the 86! He is the real life Fujiwara Takumi!

I know, I love that guy :D

Hachi-Roku is on my short, exclusive list of dream cars. I never had a chance to ride it but I choose it evry game I can. It's a shame that I can't learn to drift in Gran Turismo 6 with my pad ;_;

Try doing the Scandinavian Flick to induce oversteer.
Before I got my wheel, I drifted A LOT with the dualshock. While in high speed, release the gas, turn against the curve, then turn to enter it and floor the gas. You'll oversteer, then just countersteer to maintain a drift. It's easier to do so in the pad, but the wheel is just so good that when you come back to the pad, you'll realize that racing sims are boring without an steering wheel...

I will try that, thank you for the tip :) I actually wanted to go back to Gran Turismo 6, I had a too long brake from it.

What stering wheel are you using? I was reading many forums to see what wheels are best, and when I saw prices of top tier ones I almost got an hearth attack :P

I use an G27. Great compatibility in the matter of games (Although not supported by the 360, neither the 8th generation of consoles...)

I heard many good thing about it. And support for MS consoles or PS4 don't bother me :P I won't be buying any Xboxes and PS4 is behind my financial reach at this moment :P

Where do you live?
An used G27 (or even an G25) shoudn't be too expensive (again, I don't know what are your options).
I had to order my wheel online, since my town isn't really good for people that like the stuff that I like...

I live in Poland, in captial city so getting G27 woulnd't be a problem (if I would have money :P).

When I was talking about top tier racing wheels prices I was referring to... you see, I don't remember -.- I'm sure I have somewhere bookmark for company I'm thinking about but I can't find it right now. I was reffering to sterring wheel that was almost recreation of real life car setting - with pedals, manual gear stick and hand brake stick. It had features like vibrations and, well I don't know how it's called. You know, when you are driving a car and you hit a hole or something like that sometimes the force coming from your wheels can turn your stering wheel a little. That set also had this feature. It was very expensive (I think it was even more expensive than brand new PS4 is) and they was somekind of 'exlusive brand' - only one shop in their own country, and all sell abroad was managed from shop on their own website.

I believe you are talking about Force Feedback.
The G27 has this feature. I believe that thrustmaster's GT500 has this as well.
Try looking up on your local eBay (in my case, I had to look up mercadolivre.com - "Brazil's eBay-esque site"). Found mine for under R$ 1000, wich in the time, was roughly under $400 (cheap wheel for my country standarts).
Patience is the best coin I have, so a thorough search made me save money. Don't be afraid of searching the interwebs, you may find something interesting ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ

Drifting is a really dangerous sport
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utB_xOede1s
If someone is willing to drift, taking it to the streets is like equipping a car with a death magnet.

I like doing so in video games, since I can't do it in real life (there aren't circuits near my town...) and to prepare myself in case that, someday, my car oversteers, and I can control it.

Just kidding. My actual choice would be the 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse. It's not a very original choice, but I really liked the one I saw it in Fast and Furious.

When I read the title I thought...

petrolheads = something about cars

go sideways = crabs

Wtf? Crabs who like driving cars? Wait is there some crab racing game that I don't know about?

Then I opened the thread and read your post, and realised my error.

Now I kind of want to play a crab racing game.

Well you can have quite fun with a front wheel drive car, you just need a couple of those, you place them in front of the back wheels, move the car forward a lil bit until both wheels are on top of the weights and pull your handbrake to lock them in place. Get on the car and have fun spinning around until the heat caused by the friction burns holes in the wheels :D

Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qb3k2AjR1_o

But we went full retard and did it way faster u.u

I've already got most of the games in the train, but my choice would be the 180SX.

Also, if you like sideways (and you haven't already tried it) you should check out Absolute Drift. I reviewed it (shameless!) and although it's not for me, it sounds like it's literally made for you :)

I never got to drift in Shift 2, though... It's very different from Forza and GT (from what I tried - in a gamepad. I never managed to get my wheel working right)

Yes is very different, and at begining difficult too, but once you get the hang is easy and funny
