So, today i've received my Genius GB Pocket Station (acessory to backup savegames from gameboy).
I bought it with the only purpose to save my first and only savegame alive, for 15 years!
Pokemon Yellow was my first pokemon game, and my first game for gameboy.

Surprisingly, the savegame was still alive, until I tried to give him imortal life....

The other pokemon games, all died from the internal battery.

I did the game backup, then the sram backup.
And then, when I tried to start playing it again...."The file data is destroyed!" OH GOD WHY!?

I am really really sad :''( over 150h of my childhood memories gone.

EDIT: Just a small giveaway of an old game - > LINK

And...another one here

SOON

The point was to backup the save until I had other way to put it on PC.

I could start playing again, but it will never be the same thing..

I've replayed them many times after save loss. It happens. Use it as an excuse to do better. Get Mew.

Also, maybe look at 3DS for RBY. No battery loss. :D

I lost my completed Red save (150, no Mew because no events and no clue of the glitches). I just played again.

It happened to my wife on DS, she thought it could be fun to cheat a little and it broke her 100h savegame. She was devastated.

Kids, don't cheat !

I had a really awesome Pigeotto. My second pokemon ever, evolved from the pidget!
I really liked him. Always with me.

I really miss my Gardevoir too on Emerald. First ever poke I captured (Aside from the Mudkip that I chose)

Never used that device, but if you still have the original backup file on your computer you might be able to use it in an emulator

I did lose my yellow savegame once, when starting a new game to look around and forgetting the pc box change saves the game...

A few years ago I tried to restart playing on my silver but the battery was dead, so no save games. I did fix that by replacing the battery. :)

So the device built for the one job of creating a backup of your savegame blatantly destroyed your savegame forever? Talk about shitty designs... I'd be furious if this happened to me. Sorry to hear it, man. And make sure you get that piece of crap refunded and file a complaint at the very least.

It could be baterry fail, but I had my gameboy plugget into the wall.
Also, I just turned off the gameboy after all the backup was done and after I went to the normal menu again.

This normally happens when the save data is saving and power shutted off. So I can't understand how this happened.

I intend to do something like that, yes.

150h? That's funny, try to be a little child with 249 of 250 pokemon in pokemon gold with a save of more than 900 hours and see your save destroyed because the battery of the cartridge was over... Nowadays have the 720 on Pokemon X so screw that xD (but for real at the time was really hard and stayed one generation without playing/watching for some years).

900H?? so many batteries! Losing that must be really really fu**ed up. Old technology can bring so much memories, but it has his flaws..

Dang that must be tough :/ Yellow was the first for me too but I never tried any of those devices to keep my saves so if the battery died, it was over.

I just checked my yellow version last month and the save is still there (55hrs), but most of my pokemon transfer'd to other version long ago and I cant find them now. ;_; My GB silver and gold version's saves are lost cause the batteries are dead. :(
